First trail day for me. I just replied to Nicole's email.
And 1
I have replied, it's good to give something back, and the three or so hours is over in a flash anyway.
I am confirmed
want to come to this, and have emailed Nicole back but have not heard a reply.
That mean i'm in or will Nicole reply eventually? Shall i come anyway?
They are a bust lot - am sure they will get to their mail in the end.
I don't think you can turn up unless you've heard confirmation from the rangers... so just a case of waiting it out I guess.
I got my confirmation email yesterday... I would imagine she would reply pretty soon if she is still needing people. Actually I have just come back from a ride around the Dam which ended up pretty much in the pitch black without lights (strange how I set my best time . There is a huge mud pit at the bottom of the downhill, I wonder if that is one of the things? From the last track day I did we spent the time trying to keep riders to the proper path so I would imagine it would be more of the same.
Dylan
I have just been confirmed for this.
Cool, just got the confirmation email too.
BTW i'm just wondering, does anyone bring their bike to test out sections during work/after completion or will everyone be leaving their rides at home? Wishful thinking?
I've ridden to the work days before, but depending on what gets done you may not be able to ride it straight away.
nicole just confirmed me in,so who's in charge of the tabletop and how big's it gonna be!?
Yep, fair 'nuf. I will bring my bike and see what happens i guess.
Cheers,
But no confirmation for me it looks like a good turn out for the nobmob though.
Looks like the vast majority of the 15 places have been filled by Nobmob members. Should be a good day.
I think the last time I went it was mostly manned by riders from the St. Ives racing club, who put on the BBQ at the end. Are any of you chaps they chaps?
...but I'm in. Cheers, Anke
Or even the Manly Warringah MTB Club (www.mwmtb.com). Yup some of us chaps might be those chaps
... I wasn't sure what the club name was, I just remember people talking about St. Ives a lot
Certainly a friendly bunch.. see you there.
Hi All,
I spoke to someone in the Ranger's office yesterday. Nicole is on annual leave until 16th (I think), so if you don't get a reply from her, that's why. Cheers, Anke

some were talking about a lap before the start trial maintenance day - anyone up for this?
I'd be up for an early lap
How about 8am at the work meeting site? Ride a lap, put bikes away and straight into trail maintenance.
Post it up, Buck, post it up!
As I'm doing the andos+oaks ride the day before I might be a little sore.. but should really push those tired bones around the track too.
Rob, your doing that ride the day before aren't you?
Eh? There's no rides in the calendar tomorrow. We're talking about maintenance this weekend, right?
Pre work ride has been posted.
Sorry Rob, I'm such a Muppet. I was thinking that the andos+oaks was this weekend, it's actually next weekend.
I'm planning on doing Ourimbah State Forest tomorrow. Will probably still be knackered though
ill bring the bulldozer, chainsaws and endangered species club aww just jokes
Doh! Bit of a family emergency has come up so won't be able to make this. Have let the rangers know but the guy I spoke to wasn't too sure if they have a wait list or not.
On the off chance there is no wait list, reply here if you want to go in my place. First in, best dressed and all that!
Update: Place filled, thanks guys.
Phew!!
Work was on the section from the 19th hole past the back of the houses past the kiddies playground.
First up we attacked a fairly big pile of crushed sandstone with spades and shovels by filling barrows and ferrying down to the work area. Probably 3 tonnes worth of dirt!
The barrow pushers zipping down the hill fully laden was quite exciting hehe..
One group laid a heap of crushed sandstone and created some small water bars along the dirt trail at the back of the houses and laid some new grass where the trail had widened out.
Another group re-laid a section of planking just after the 19th drop. Nice work here with the new install having a slight banking. Additional rock work and shrubbery to complete the transition between the new and old sections and to fill in some erosion.
Finally, the section a little higher up from the 19th hole had some maintenance work done on the existing water bars (logs) to ensure the water will run off the track as designed.
Quite astonishing to see riders go around the barriers and ride through the work teams in the construction areas?? WTF??
It was great to be able to take some initiative along this section and tidy up some of the other problem spots. Cutting trees back, patching and filling here and there to keep riders to the track.
Look out for a new line off the 19th hole, its challenging but not impossible with a couple of options thrown in.
Thanks to Nicole and the rangers for the organisation and the yummy feed afterwards. Nicole mentioned that she has a myspace site for Manly dam where she will post photos.
Craig
Nice work guys. I managed to get out there late Sunday afternoon and it looks like you put in a hard days work.
Its defiantly going to speed up that section or at least make the drainage better.
Once again thanks for putting the effort in to keep the trail open to all.
I stuck a few pics up here: http://nobmob.com/image/tid/114
Great days work.. good sense of achievement seeing the first riders go through..
Great to have someone like Nicole organising this stuff too.
Good job guys, that corner after the 19th Hole was crying out for some support !
Now what's all this about a new line at the 19th Hole?

A big thanks to all that came along for the trail maintenance day. Quite hot and thirsty work for a cool day, yes? Anyone else, like me, enjoy a beer later that day? But I think we all did some good things on Sunday. Some key sections have been improved, and we supported our pasttime. See you next time.
...Yes, trail maintenance was pretty hard work and I think Liam should get the trophy for hardest working man. He is pretty handy with that shovel! I could definitely feel my arms yesterday. It's always lovely to catch up with everyone, especially over a BBQ.
