We were discussing profiles from professional riders over on the road site and someone noted that Jason English has posted a few of his rides recently:

Nice stats!

Rub it in why don't you?! Sticking out tongue

Notice he took an hour longer to do Capital Punishment despite 4,000ft less climbing. That's mud for you..

Something wrong with the elevation data there? No way there was more climbing in the Husky than Canberra. I only did the 50 at the Husky, but I can't believe the first 50 had any serious mountains either.....

Was there a weather system passing at the time of Capital Punishment? You know - something with lots of rain and stuff? Eye-wink

Extreme weather fronts play havoc with barometric altimeters, maybe that explains it? That or he didn't let it calibrate fully at the beginning. Or maybe a combination of both.

...except they both seem wrong. Too much climbing for the Husky and too little for CP. Maybe operator error?

How does the Elevation correction feature work in Garmin Connect now? I thought it worked by reading the altitude from the maps after the ride.
