Canberra weekend
Hi Guys, new to the site. Thought you might like this story.
Last weekend went to Canberra with my son, decided at about 10:00am on Sat Morning. If you are in the mood, you gotta do this. Left Sydney and got to Madjura Pines, single track lots of technical cross country stuff. Stay at Red Cedars Motel North Canberra (bike friendly). Sun morning Mt Stromlo, up the south edge great climb, take your time enjoy the view. Took B lines on World Cup downhill, 1/2 way went on Luge. A great session. My son took his Specialized big hit into the 4x for a 1/2 hour or so and had a ball. Wind picked up so went to Sparrow Hill east of Quenabeyan. Single track heaven. Follow the arrows we were told. 3 hrs and a storm with rain and sleet and mud. Fantastic. If you want a taste of Canberra, follow this weekend of events and you and your son will have a ball. I have Merida one twenty, son has Giant Yukon SX and Spec Big Hit. A must do! for father and son rides. I'm 50 he's 13. Great site, keep up the good work NOBMOB

it is now my 1 spot for holidays & next time I an going to go down the Snowy's for a day of riding too!
great story, now that is what mountain biking is all about!
Thanks for the story. Yeah, down in Canberra is what it's all about.
Ourimbah and Awaba are great for some closer to home action though
a group of us (girls and guys) rode Stromlo on Sat and Sun. I think i saw you guys on Sunday AM near the coffee caravan. although the weather was freezing and the wind (which blew me off the track) was howling, nothing beats Stromlo. How good is the Skyline track! Also spotted a few guys i see riding at RNP there on Saturday as well.
you probably got a free car and bike wash like we did on the way home when the sky opened up and down came rain so heavy my wipers couldn't clear the windscreen fast enough!
sounds like you guys had some great father and son bonding time
sounds like me in about 8yrs if I keep riding for that long & all the trails are still there , the boy will be home all weekend with mum while I have work to do at Dargle , see youse all there if you make it .
Riding in Canberra is a great weekend break with mates. Fantastic single track and lots of it. If I can't be bothered driving and/or organising the trip, we go with Will at mtnbike.com.au; it's always a great weekend and some skills coaching is included.
