Dh racing

This got posted over at rotorburn in response to a kid asking what he needed to know before heading to a DH race. As a race oganiser it cracked me up so I thought I'd reshare it.

OK, this is what you need to know:

1. Always stop in the most ridiculous spot possible where other riders can't see you as they approach. Trust me, they'll appreciate it.

2. Always follow each other down as close as possible in a train especially on really dry and dusty tracks. Seeing what you're riding is highly over-rated.

3. Do as many runs as possible until you can't hold on any more, then go up and do another. First aid have nothing better to do with their time.

4. Never, and I mean never assist in the loading or unloading of shuttle trailers. And Never say thank you as you hand or get handed your bike.

5. Always rock up to rego 2 minutes after they close. The volunteers just love this and enjoy the joke you play on them. And never hand them the correct change.

6. Always go and ask at the timing tent how you did. These guys and girls are really bored and seeking human interaction. Besides, they have nothing better to do at that moment in time.

7. Always jump in that last spot on the shuttle, regardless if there is a guy (rider) loading bikes on the trailer for you. He doesn't need to do any runs.

8. Never stop when you hear..."Rider down!" It means nothing and you shouldn't bother yourself with it.

Just needs, if you have a problem at the race what ever you do don't approach the organisers to get it sorted on the day. Also they hate polite emails so best to jump on a forum and have a rant. That way they'll know how you really feel

Of course it's a piss take but the way some people carry on at races you would think it was the actual rules. XC shares a few of them and has a whole raft of others.
