Sweet price yes.....
Aussie dollar going further yes....
Crap products that don't sell for good reason originally that get dumped on the internet ....... yes.
Everywhere...
If your silly enough to buy crap like the above you really deserve a good flogging with a green stick....
Common sense and experience ...... not for sale on the intranet
dragged a new Yeti 575 home from holiday in the states - price was unbeatable, delivered to the hotel by Jenson.
Can't wait to give it the first taste of Aussie soil....
Anyone know rules and regs about buying a bike from o/seas?
I was considering either buying one from the US and having it shipped here or buying one in the UK and bringing it back with me ($$ dependant of course).
I hear different things about "get a little dirt on it before packing" or "ask the shop to put some old tyres and grips on" but does anyone have any ideas?
I like the look of some of those Mondrakers and Lapierres..............hmmm.
I had mine assembled and then just broken down for shipping. Told the guy at customs I had just ridden it around the streets a bit - didn't seem to question me too much, but perhaps I was lucky. I also had a couple of other things that took their attention - a wooden mask and some foodstuffs - so I dunno - like I say maybe my lucky day.
Jenson won't ship Yeti's to Aus, so I had it as baggage. Qantas generally don't charge extra (although I am a very frequent flyer so perhaps they are nice to me) however United stuck me $200 to fly it across the US :-/
With a lefty hub as well

Lessons learned by Crank Brothers.... Zero.

Beat it with a stick partner, there ain't much else you can do!
Barrrrr Humbug..... crap product number 467....
Yeah, but they look cool, eh?
P.S. Notice I didn't say I was buying 'em
Look cool yes 100%
I know you were just using them as an example of the mighty Aussie dollar.
I was more highlighting to the broader community that just because it looks shiny and has a "Brand" on it doesn't mean it's much chop.
I hear ya.....

Depends on whether flying under the radar is your thing or not.
GST is payable on new bikes imported, but not import duty so far as I know... although you will have to quote regs at Customs to get the exemption.
Usual disclaimers about local warranty support not being available etc.
