Narrabeen academy of sports trail
Hi I ride up and around Narrabeen hills behind the academy of sport and noticed that the access gate (which includes a pedestrian turn style) has been pad locked for a number of weeks. Does anyone know why it was closed or when it will be re opened?

Perhaps you'd like to answer this one? My understanding is that this entrance (through the academy) is private property and you aren't allowed to use it.
Correct it is private property, but also has some excellent MTB trails over a huge area. But that still doesnt answer my question. I was hoping that some riders may know why it has suddenly been closed ?
If this is the one that comes off Cromer Golf Course, I understand Warringah Council is in negotiations with them to make it a part of a trail that provides a complete loop of Narrabeen Lake/Lagoon/whaever and it should be open. Closures of that gate should be reported to Council.
More detail on which gate you mean?
here is a link to google maps which may work.

Access is through the sports academy and up an access road at the top of a ridge. There are double mesh gates that are always locked but also a pedestrian turn style that is usually open , but not now. Actually it doesnt matter that is is closed at this point as there are many more...I was just interested why now.
great news about the talks with council as this area has some of the best trails around and could easily relieve the traffic around manly Dam. many thanks
It is the one thats starts from an access road at the side of the centre where the accommodation is. There is a house just before the gate. The double mesh gates are always locked but the turn style is usually open (not now). Anyway its not a problem since many other access points. Its good to hear about talks with council as this area has excellent trails and could relieve pressure on manly Dam
Hmm... might be within their rights to close that one.
Is the Academy of Sports a private company or a State Government corporation?
Absolutely they have the right and no issue with that (well other than it would hurt anyone to open it up...but thats another thread), not sure about private or state.
