When:
Sunday, 7 October, 2007 - 05:00
Duration:
3 hours
Come Rain or Shine:
If it's raining, I won't be there.

4Km SW of Wingello village on Caoura Rd there's a small base camp within the forest - seems as good a place as any.

Details:

Given there's a ride in Canberra the day (& night?) before it would be rude not to stop at Wingello on way back, don't you think?

Especially given the Fling will be hosted here the following month.

11am meet sets a 9am departure from Canberra, or... and I'll just put this one out there... there's an option of camping at Wingello and moving that 11am to much earlier. OK, or... we could drive up to Bundanoon the night before also - maybe even better idea.

9AM start at Wingello - sorry folks, but the throng has spoken - this is to appease the masses travelling back from Canberra.

Who's in?
Rob, tienster, evan, Little-Ditty, Caro, lorrie (6 riders)

What Happened?

Were you there and have a story to tell?

Fairly open and fast.

The single track was heaps of fun. From memory the ST runs backwards compared to the fling and a lot of work has been done on it since that race.

The single track at WW3 was run the same as the Fling last year but the Fling this year will allegedly run the other way which is reported to be better.

Please take Shaun as a family of three. We took Chaba with us yesterday to the Stromlo ride and he's definitely keen for more. We all stayed at the Carotel and it was fine so we'd be happy to go back there

Ah... well, Alchemist + Flynny both have a GPS from their efforts at WWS Round 3. Flynny has recorded his laps separately, one here:

Reckon we should go do a lap of this at least (see the sniggle South of Four Creek Road), and then out to the end of Gulp Road and back via Nyers Creek and Fern Gully. Lovely stuff Smiling

Is anyone coming down from Sydney for this? There is talk about wanting to move it forward a bit from the crew that will be heading back from Canberra.

Any opinions? 10am perhaps (means leave Canberra 8-ish)?

lorrie's picture

Yeah I'm up for moving it forward.. it's not like you're going to get a sleep in, with those roomates....

What time would be wrap it up? (or might I ask how long is a ball of string?)

I'd like to be back in (South) Sydney for 3pm, so that's a 1:30pm leave. So 10am start gives 3 hours? Hmmmmm... maybe 9am is better? Eye-wink

Little-Ditty's picture

Possibly even earlier... 8:30 or 9:00 maybe? I would give it 3 hours, then choof off.

tienster's picture

9 am would be good

It's 9AM Sunday, Tienster. At the base camp. You know - drive off the end of the road and into the forest a couple of Kays as per the map.
