Did a bit of a road ride on my mtb today and really noticed some creaking on the crank side when pedaling. does anyone know what it is and can it be easily rectified?

Do you mean on the drive side when pedalling? Might be caused by loose chainring bolts? Give em a quick tighten and see if that eliminates the problem.

Too many variables. Lots of thing can display themselves as a creak when pedalling

Could be the chainring bolts.

Loose crank,

BB on the way out or just loose

Crack in the frame.

Pedal bearing

Seat rails or seat post....

Once I even had a bike in and everyone was sure that the creak was coming from the BB area after a lot of stuffing around, eliminating all of the above and head scratching it ended up being a loose stem bolt. Some how it was reverberating down the frame tube and sounded like it was a the crank area.

Anyone ever heard of certain late model fox forks creaking
where the stanchions meet the crown apparently

i recently had my crowns/stanchions replaced because of creaking

was that warranty or did you pay for it
where did you get it done

I was just still covered under warranty. My local bike shop TBE where I bought them got it sorted.
