Draft Newcastle Cycling Strategy and Action Plan
Not sure if people are aware, I wan't until NPWS showed me, that Newcastle Council has its draft Cycling Strategy out for comment at the moment.
The plan can be viewed at
http://www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au/council/communit...
On a first quick glance, there doesn't appear to be any discussion on Mountainbiking within the Plan. I think it would be very much worth people taking the time to make a submission pointing out this omission. If mountianbiking isn't in this plan, it could be a while before another plan is done.
If you feel like putting in a submission, and I would strongly encourage it, the details are;
Written submissions:

The City of Newcastle

or email: [email protected]
Please ensure 'Draft Newcastle Cycling Strategy and Action Plan' is in the title or subject line of your submission.
I'll put a further post here after I have read it properly, but feel free to add to the discussion.

I just added my 2c worth. Lets hope that MTB features in the new plan.
Everyone else, please take a few minutes to send a submission as they close on Monday.
Lenny,
As I'm not sure who looks after the area around JHH, does the omission of MTB consideration in this plan potentially affect the possibility of an authorised trail network in Jesmond? If so, I think it will definately be worthwhile for everyone to write in regarding this oversight.
I added Jesmond to my response, as I am speculating that Jesmond would not be part of their Draft Newcastle Cycling Strategy and Action Plan.
Better to be safe than sorry and mention it.
Sorry about my heading, but it has to be the most common, incorrectly spelt word and it drives me nuts.
Definitely need to talk about Jesmond. The staff want it to happen, but given the Councillor backlash to a bike path in Blackbutt, don't think they can push it.
a sweet little cycleway up to the art gallery would be dandy
