Coming to ride Manly Dam, anywhere else to ride?

Hey guys,
A couple of us Singleton fellas are coming down this Sunday for a spin around the Dam. Question is, are there any other places nearby where we can go for a bit more of a ride nearby? We are all XC riders so no DH tracks for us to try maim ourselves on thanks. We are all reasonably fit so hills are no issue.
Also, are the tracks well signposted for us to follow or do we need a bit of local knowledge to ride the best bits? A couple of us have been before but it was about 5 years ago so the memories will be a bit dim. There is 8-9 of us coming down so we could probably squeeze in one local so #'s don't get too out of hand. Pace will be a sighter the first lap and then we will probably hook in for some quick ones after that if any one is keen.
The other question I guess is where is a good watering hole to quench our thirst after a good day of riding, looking for a good feed and some beers in a beer garden where our bikes won't be in too much danger of getting nicked.
Thanks

Jase, im sure if you posted a ride you would get a few locals coming along to play tour barbie. Other XC trails to ride would be Dock Holes and centre track in Terrey Hills. The Perimetre and Long Trail may be a bit boring for your posse - BUT you could have a "watering"and a feed at the Terrey Hills Tavern - pretty good beer garden. Oh and how could i forget Cascades and some of there run in trails...

If I was u Id b stopping off on the Central Coast & Newcastle on the way down ,Awaba is probly the best XC cource around followed by Glenrock & Ourimba ,all well sign posted & Glenrock has a pub with front deck overlooking the beach just over the hill at South Merryweather. As for Sydney tracks I live 5min ride from the dam & spend most of my time riding Kentlyn,Appin & Mt Annan all of which u can check out on nobmob .

... at about 15 minutes ride if you are looking at doing something in addition.

Downhils are fun. The climbs are good too. Pubwise, the Parkway Hotel on Warringah Road is OK and well-priced.

Might be all washed out with the storm we've just had here!
I would have shown you around but think I'll be racing the 4hr out at Western Sydney.

Forecast is storms again tomorrrow but expected to be fine the rest of the week. Just take it easy and keep an eye out for drifts of loose rocks and you'll be fine.

We have all ridden glenrock, ourimbah and awaba heaps and have been to the beaches hotel a number of times. looking for something else on the northern beaches while we are there if we feel the need and have the time. Cascades looks alright.

Isn't too far from Manly Dam but you'll certainly need a guide there!

So, going by the comments in the status update, if you guys get more rain this week the dam will be pretty much unridable on the weekend? Just thinking I might get a plan B in order just in case.

The forecast is good for the rest of the week but they'll be plenty of big puddles on the fire trail sections, which is pretty normal for the past 12 months.

Any of you guys got an update on the weather? Just saw the news and it was raining in Sydney. Is it worth coming down or should we forget it? Forecast is for showers so if there has been rain today it may be too wet.
Thanks.

It rained pretty hard this morning which means the dam will most likely be pretty wet and slippery.

Thanks, we had had no rain up here last night but we decided at 5am this morning to give it a miss. Ended up doing the oaks and St helenas. Got a big shower of rain as we got off the train but that was it. Trail was pretty dry considering the rain.
