SRAM Singletrack Mind Series Round 6
Just up Jenkins Road from corner with Mount Faulk Road.
The SRAM Singletrack Mind Series features six mountain bike endurance events, of 7 or 8 hours duration. They will take you to six different locations in NSW and ACT, each one renowned for its flowing singletrack and fun factor.
After a great Series finale at the renowned singletrack of Awaba State Forest, we're stoked that have Hunter Mountain Bike Association invited us back once again to enjoy their mtb nirvana!

The good, the bad and the ugly are registered and ready to roll
SOB!
So Phil, has the Iron Horse Pony Club entered yet?
I will be doing the next one SOLO.
It's gonna be a long weekend
So its looking like 29 degrees so far

good thing I am riding my 29er then
..but am keen to try more 'timed' formats. I've only done set distance races - fling, husky, capital punishment etc - but this format looks cool as well.
Do they let you leave bottles etc in a transition zone? I'd likely be doing such a race solo, so wouldn't mind leaving a small cooler bag in the transition area for a quick replace of a bidon.
I'm delighted to say that Jet Racing will be coming to awaba for our 'seasons close' event.
We've got 4 teams racing (since when did Jet get so big?!), all in the Three's.
Myself, Garry and Kyle will be gunning for the Mens threes - although there will also be some less serious laps in there at some stage.
Even more exciting is that the two junior 'young guns' Jayden and Callum have somehow convinced Jenny "I'm never riding a bike again after this season" Fay to ride with them in a mixed Three (this is team that could go very well indeed, and might trouble some non-Junior, non-mixed teams).
Sloaney, Steve 'Crusher' Knight, and Matt Russell will be a very fast team in the Masters catagory, but they will be raced the whole way by the 'non' Masters team of Brian, Wayne and Craig.
We'll have the new 2013 Epics up there with the Sram XX1 - feel free to come over and if you ask nicely, take one for a spin. Check the bikes out, and say hello.
Pack a chair, fill an esky, and enjoy the last race of the year....
I'm keen to say hello to the 'Body Mechanic' for a few minutes about setting the bike up.
Has anyone seem him previously? Comments?
Is a great guy and I can definitely recommend him. I have been seeing Blair for fitting and adjustments for over 2 years now. I recently switched saddles to a Selle SMP and he got the fit dialed first time without problems at all.
You might need more than a few mins though. A full fitting is near enough a 3 hour job.
Don't know about in transisiton itself it's quite a small and tight area full of riders waiting to get tagged in for the lap. However, about 300m? before transition theres an open section of fireroad where you'll be able to pull over safely and swap. That's where I would drop my bag.
If it's a hot day (which it is looking like it will be) and you're soloing unsupported then one tip Fankles suggested to me once upon a time was to put a spare jersey or two in the cooler bag covered in ice.
And there was me thinking Fankles was just a pretty face!
Good idea on the fireroad area, Phil. Last year we did try to designate the area along the track at Transition for solo riders and will do the same this year - so you'll probably find a spot there, too.
He's been known to offer good advice once or twice
Hi Fi,
Is it going to be the full Red Loop for the race?
Cheers
Brian
Yep, full red loop approx 12km
Take plenty of fluid. Forecast of 30 degrees for Sunday and humid.
