Went into this race with limited training and ended up with my best result so far this XCM season so pretty happy with how things turned out. Had a pretty uneventful race. I passed Jason English at one stage, then he got back on his bike and rode back to the front of the elites. The ride of the day in my book.

Rode with Doc for a while until he stopped to play in the mud one time to many. Was by myself through the middle section of the race. Was planning on not stopping all race however took pity on a guy near a mud pit about 20k from the finish who needed a multi tool. Ended up leaving him with the tool and he was nice enough to return it at the finish.

Overall the conditions were pretty good on the single track and a lot of the firetrail. There were the usual bog holes however this year I rode most of them. The damp fire trails were not as slippery this year and I didn't see any soft sections like last year. Other than cutting some single track round the bogs I can't see it being much different next year.

My wife did the 50k race and it was my brother in-law's first MTB race after buying an anthem about 2 months ago. We bought him the entry for his birthday so I was pretty relieved to see both of them at the finish and still smiling.

A big thank you to Antsonline & Jet Racing, I only started training again a couple of weeks ago since getting sick after the Convict 100. Wouldn't have been able to do a PB if not for double doses of his Tuesday night training sessions.

Well done mate - great ride. Even with those small wheels you manage to go fast Eye-wink

Get ready though - some big training to come - for the Fling...

I had a suspicion there was some secret training going on Eye-wink

The Tuesday night session is really just the MTB night on the ergo trainers. Mark, the guy who runs Jet Cycles built some ergo trainers for his trialathon squad. Ant runs the MTB session so contact him if you want more details. A couple of riders from other elite teams use the jet racing training sessions so it seems to work for everyone.

Another great result Paul - just think where you are going to be once you are back into your full training regime.

Well done.

Well done on the podium.

That was good fun looping around the sniggle but just a shame I had to let you go on ahead and not share more of my spastic mud pedalling technique with you.
