Hi All,
New to Sydney, have done lot's of MTB riding a in VIC and loving the local trails. Keen to get involved in some XC racing, any advice on events to start with that may be coming up? Nothing to epic to start with please!

There's a state xc round at Western Sydney in a few weeks, nice fun track. Between them, Ourimbah ( central coast Mtb club) who have the state champs next month and Awaba there should be something that floats your boat.
Also look out for upcoming Chocolate Foot events and Rocky Trail races that you may want to partner up with someone and bust out a few laps.

Welcome to Sydney! Western Sydney MTB has a few events coming up - see www.wsmtb.com . There is a State XCO Round on 21 Oct, and then our Club Championship race on 28 Oct (all are welcome to race in this - but of course only members can be champion).
From the North Shore it takes just under an hour to get to Yellomundee Regional Park - via M2, M7, Richmond Rd/Blacktown Rd, The Driftway, then onto Springwood Rd - and 8km south of the river (on the left, 400m after Shaws Ck, just before the first hairpin bend). It take about the same time to get to Ourimbah.
We also have our Summer Series starting on 17 Nov - which kicks off with a 4 hour twilight race (6-10pm).

Kanangra Classic is coming up in a couple of weeks. 50km option is what I'm doing and is a fairly easy 50km to be honest. Not so much mountain biking though - pretty much all fireroad with a bit of double track.
