I'm not sure about the Awaba carpark itself... but there is the Wangi Wangi campground not too far away.
And also http://www.forests.nsw.gov.au/visiting/forests/o.... The Pines area isn't 'close' to Awaba, but it really is quite nice. Just avoid the bogans over the Easter long weekend, and also the leeches after rain.

The last time I was up there this area was closed off. So ring National Parks first. This is closer to Awaba.
Last time I was there I saw signs in the car park saying No Camping.
Dont know if its checked or not as we got there early on a Sunday and there was a car off in the corner pretty well set up with a tarp and stuff. Which is what made me take notice of the no camping sign.
Thanks guys
Looks like the Bangalow / Gap Creek campsites are open so I think we'll try that. ( If I can recover from the bl@@dy flu..! )
Thanks again

Definitely no camping, State Forests have confirmed this with us before. There is camp ground in near by State Forest and National Park though if you want to stay close by.
Thanks Sammydog
Camp grounds look good.... only a few km's away.
Any idea of track conditions at the moment ? latest trail update looks a bit out of date. Forecast looks fairly dry between now and the weekend.

Haven't been out to be honest, but I imagine it would be the pick of the trails locally. Usually dries pretty quickly.
Last Friday afternoon, the rain absolutely dumped down.
It hasn't rained much since, & today was a magic day! Tomorrow looks good too. I'd say green light.
(I live 7km away from Awaba)
no problems at all
Lovely.... thanks guys
