Yes, and AFAIK construction of a nice XC loop to compliment the DH at Awaba will begin shortly Smiling

Please check with the local club before taking a look as this might impact use of DH, or it might be closed for other reasons.

Apparently there is only 100 spots for the day, so book early Alex

I'll probably be at Glenorchy MTB park that weekend Eye-wink

Yep, only 100 spots. Let me know if you are coming and I can book you in. Should be a great social weekend of runs.

As for XC........Stage 1 of the XC has been planned, just waiting for final approval on Flora and Fauna issues before we start. The initial loop will be around 8km's, but will form the backbone of the extended network. Long term we want to get in 40 - 50km's of trail and we have some good vertical to play with.

We are also planning a second, less technical DH trail.

A "less techical" DH run would probably be a good idea considering the rock garden at Awaba - that thing looks lethal!

those who dont know or are interested the awaba bash has been canned due to the double up on nationals weekend, however it is open from oz day weekend to the public from then on in...im thinking of scheduling a bit of a bbq day up there, and maybe a spot of van/ute hire for shuttling for perhaps the weekend after?..anyone keen gimme a holler -apparently work has been done to fix the death element to it so its all good Eye-wink

cheers!

keep us informed of any plans to ride there. I would be very keen to see what the track is like.

Check with Lenny.

AFAIK the trail has chains blocking certain sections. Not sure if they are going to be removed permanently or they get replaced outside club events.

w/e after oz day is clear (I think), I'd love to check it out!

yeh no lenny emailed me, he said the trail is open to the public from oz day weekend onwards, and to check it out slowly on your first run to see if there are any chains accross trail which are to keep moto's from going up Smiling ok well chuck a tentative for the w/e after oz day then eh?

The event may be off, but Lenny from HMBA has said we can still do private shuttles. From the sounds of things there will still be a large crew there on Sunday and the clubs trailers will be available for towing. Bring some $$ for fuel donations (or a tow bar) if you're still interesting in coming up. Should still be a great day despite the political BS! Just ride

I believe there will be some HMBA members camping in the bottom carpark on the saturday night.

Should be a few people out there doing private runs on sunday and the chains will most definitely be down on the day.

Any other day, just do a sighting run first to check the chains. We are working on a system of signage to advise of the chain status, but even then I would check first. Once you know where the chains are, you will know where to slow down and check.
