Just signed up, my first time doing this race. Looking forward to it!
Can anyone tell me how much climbing there is in total? I've only ever ridden the red loop once, have never ridden the yellow or blue loops. I know the wall was pretty steep...
Around 1150m
Coincidentally my regular Sunday ride is 50km, 1190m of climbing, and includes steep firetrails and some semi-technical singletrack. Usually takes me around 2:45.
Nice one. Sounds like the perfect loop for it.
I'm looking forward to this one.
Are yourself and Wayne on form at the moment Bri?
In fiji drinking magaritas ! At the moment.
Hoping to have something to offer by the end of the month Gazza
For me at the movement I'm far from any type of form
Don't know how my form is as all Mtb events keep getting cancelled!!!!
Ok, can someone answer a couple of questions on this? Is it three seperate races or just all 3 rings as once making a 50km circuit? I am guessing it is one ride.

...but essentially it's 3 (unequal and different) loops adding to 50 km, which can be done solo or as part of a team of 2 or 3. Each lap comes back through transition, but heads out in a different direction.
How's everyone's training going? I'm thinking about going down Saturday morning to get familiar with the trails.
Although I havn't been training for distance really.
Top end power is pretty good at the moment and lots of hills are being done.
Looking forward to this one (apart from the cold!)
I rode the "3 rings" for the first time today. Tracks are in great shape, took me 2:29 with just a couple of missed turns I had to double back for... Hoping I can shave a couple more minutes off this. Boy, the wall is a killer, but at least it's short. And that yellow loop climb seems to go on forever. But overall a fantastic ride in a beautiful location. Looking forward to the race!
I'm going to suffer on the day! Have hardly been on the bike in weeks due to work committments and the rain. Oh well, I'll just have to suck it up and use it as a training ride for the Kowalski and the Half-Fling later in the year.
Cheers!
training ride for me too chooklegs, a couple of weeks off the bike makes it sooo hard .
I hope everyone took advantage of the great weather and got some solid training in over the weekend? What are you planning for your final week of preparation?
For me, one more solid training ride on Wednesday and then an easy ride (or spin bike) Thursday/ Friday.
Forecast is looking good but a little chilly. A lot better than last year from what I have read, but I think a long-sleeved jersey will be the order of the day.
Bring it on!
... for those of us doing the night race and camping overnight in the forest..... Glad Sunday is a reasonable 10.00am start!
I've just gone out and spent a small fortune on gear for snow camping!
It'll be a good test to see how warm everything is?
... but it's getting a bit ancient, so I'll probably bring a doona as well. And maybe some firewood....
Start lists are up

Are there separate points/ placings for riders who have done both races or does it not matter on Sunday wether the place getters have raced the night before or not?
Last year the had results (prizes) for the night, results (prizes) for the day and results (prizes) combined for those that raced both.
I have developed a rotten niggling knee injury that only flares up when I ride, ended up walking the last part of my ride tonight ! going to see my physio dude on Saturday. so I am out for three ring circus ,hopefully ok for jet black 12 hour.
That is very bad luck. I hope you get it sorted quickly.
Craig, that's not good to hear. Rest up mate.
It's going to be 3 degrees early Sunday Morning

But we can all look forward to "the wall" to warm us up..
Anyone know if you can light fires for warming purposes if camping on Saturday night? I seem to remember some fires in 44 gall drums in the event centre last year, but didn't camp overnight.
Dont be soft!
It's currently -2.3 and says it feels like -4.5
