Connecting Manly Dam with Cascades

I'm looking to plan my next training ride and was wondering how people prefer to connect Manly Dam with Cascades. I've been riding via the road mostly, but would prefer to minimise the tarmac content.

I seem to remember a few people go via the pipeline easement down to Warringah Road, up and over the ped bridge, back to the pipleline easement, but not sure where to from there. From memory the pipeline easement is a dead end, trail-wise.

My google-fu has failed me on this occasion - if someone could post links to strava routes or give directions that would be brilliant.

... and see where people went each end of it. Pretty much everyone on this was travelling between Cascades and the Dam.

You can ride the pipeline trail into the back of Davidson and then ride some back streets to the stone parade gate. To be honest it's a pretty uninspiring ride and you'd be better off just sticking with the back streets up to Ralston.

I generally ride Grace Ave, Blackbutts, Pringle, Haigh, then Elm. Elm is a nice little leg warmer for 4 Gates attacks Smiling

Could that work?

Here's how I do it.

From the dam do the Possum then the footpath world championships over the bridge to Arndale.

On to the pipeline via Fitzpatrick and Grace Ave.

Follow that all the way to John Oxley Dr.
Follow J.O. Dr and pick up the the detour on the left that leaves then brings you back to J.O. (Nice little climb at the end)

Keep on J.O. Dr which becomes Prahan Ave. Follow this to Kambora Ave and you're just about there.

If you want a link to my strava, happy to PM it.

Cheers

Arndale... Only long term locals would know that name.

I concur with danielschipper on this as I much prefer to ride down Heath from Ralston instead of the Stone Pde entrance.

Try this for a decent climb: pipeline from Arndale, Kens rd climb, duck behind Glenrose, past the tennis courts and through the reserve to Haigh then Elm.

Unfortunately you can't avoid bitumen for the whole way but the backstreets are pretty quiet.

Cheers, Olandslow? First of all, what's with the new profile pic, ya budgey smugglin' turncoat? Whatever happen to P.U.M.P.? Last time I invite you to the next village bunga bunga party. I'm not with ya, son. Arndale? I seem to recall you at the opening in '64 protesting against capitalism and the new American-style shopping malls and swearing you'd never return. Then the TAB opened and guess where one could find Oldanslow every Saddy arvo? And now you're riding over the bridge footpath as a matter of convenience? Soft, I tells ya. Whatever happened to the young Oldandslow that schooled Danny Macaskill in the very fine art of handrail riding? Your directions are gibberish. Way too difficult. The easiest way is to not go to Cascades in the first place. Who wants to ride up and down pebbly fire trails just to get to an access gate and then turn around and repeat? When you next need my counsel, you know where to find me.
