But the clock should only start as you pass over timing mats Bruce?
Unless they someone how didn't pick up your tag when you started and assigned you a start time of the first group when you finished?
Seems about right for me. 2hr 54min 18sec. I had 2hr 36min on my computer. So add on 10-15min stopped for the helicopter. Another 3-5min for stretching cramps and that sounds about right.
Gun Time and Net Time is? If you look at the leader board my time there is the same as the gun time but my net time is just under 11 mins faster. Have they given us a "time reduction" for helicopter delay?
Just checked my "ride buddy's" time. Unbelievable! They have her beating me by 1 second even though I out sprinted her to the line. Hmmm, must remember to let her cross the start line first next time
The important time for me though is a ride time of 3hr 7 mins. Geez a little less time waiting for people visiting nature and we'll crack 3hrs next year.
Had I known there was going to be a safety car, I wouldn't have gone so fast at the start Then I would've started the "2nd race" more fresh. These things can't be predicted though and I hope that guy who got choppered out is ok. Scary stuff. I said to Buck, I'm gonna go more cautious from now on... but then proceeded to do as Paul did and went nuts on the monster downhill with more than a few nose landings and 1 where I was rolling for about 5 metres on the front wheel wondering if the back wheel was going to come back down... or... I was going to go over... Fortunately it eventually came back down and had a nice run down to the road
Pleased for a DW virgin, but I hope to improve on that time.
If everyone Pm's your race number to me I'll try and do a group search so we can have a table showing all of our results at a glance, that includes you to Jedi. Maybe it'll actually be Rob that does the techy stuff but you know what I mean
mine is out also, started after 7 and finished before 2, i should be 6hrs 53mins according to my GPS. They have me down as 7hrs and 3mins. Doesnt matter though, not going for line honours and my goal was to just finish after being sick for the last few weeks (i always seem to get sick before 100km endruos - cant i just do one healthy)

3:51:16 - including 1:08 walk/run, guess I have no excuse to beat this next year. Really enjoyed myself and thanks to all that contributed. Also a big rap to Andrew (posts as Andrew) for stopping to help on my first mechanical.
Way more single track and 100kays. Looks to be slightly less climbing (perhaps) but over all slightly longer times, only by a few minutes though judging by last years results.
The Angry Doctor less climbing? LOL, in your dreams!
Loads more sweet sniggle though - bring that on! Oh and some smooth straight DH that saw the fastest I've been on dirt (69.6Km/h) - ya-haaaaa!
They advertise 2,800m vertical and would go with that. I only did the first 50 last year and with 1,350m vertical in that half (48Km) alone I can believe their readings on the total.
The big ring out of ten mile hollow thats impresive and good on him but 32 on the front will do me nicely from now on.
And now having now done a dirtwoks on both a singlespeed and geared bike I belive the singlespeed is easier. You really dont need a granny and that cluster and other contraption at the back are just too much of a distraction.

Thanks for the offer Stuart but I'd checked my time already
Couldn't get into the 100 this year when it sold out, so we did the 50 with a half hearted approach - "Coopers Training Program". And a solid night's "training" Saturday night didn't help too much either!!
Was good fun, stopped on the road to set up my cd player and external speaker then grinded back into town with the drum & bass cranking away
Ouch cramps but still not too bad 6:49 only 33 minutes slower than last year.
Erm... suspiciously they have me 10 minutes over time. Anyone else?
According to the GPS I started 6:48:56 and finsihed 13:28:46. This is 6:39:50 elapsed yet they have my time as 6:49:54.
So close Junkie... fix your bike and take it for a shake down ride before the next one, eh?
Maybe they are not the corrected times for different starts. I am a little suspicious also that my time might be out by about 10min.
If it's sketchy on the stand, it certainly won't be any better on the dirt...
Rookie error, I should have known better!

Yes going back to SS but with bigger 29er wheels should fly when I get healthy again.
7 hours and 43 seconds! i am not happy!
all that hard work and 43 seconds out...
back to training for next year tonight

33rd in Cat, 270 overall...

I can't work out the difference between the Gun and Net time but the overall positions are based on the Gun time.

You probably would'nt have done a double post too
But yeah, no idea about the difference between Gun and Net time.....

The results are also up on the Dirtworks site now and are a little easier to read / follow.
Hey guys thanks for the brill weekend, was alot of fun being able to meet everyone and camp.
As a newby to 100km racing i think i went very well.. i did 5:17.42 (race time) and 5:17.24 (gun time???)
This put me 6th place in my category open (16-29yrs)and 54th outright.
Are there anymore 100km's?? this year
nice work everyone

Hi Alex, awesome time man. There is the Angry Doctor on 7th Sept. Check the calender for more details.

The Dirt Works 100 has bigger climbs, the Doctor's climbs are shorter and steeper and there is a lot more of them.
which is the better more fun track??
Yeah, I could sit in granny gear all day chugging up the climb from 10 mile hollow for example, much easier (IMHO) to many shorter, steeper climbs.
Granny gear Alchemist. You know... granny... gear...? Oh, it's wasted on you isn't it?
The climb out of 10 mile hollow is a big ring climb
Hamish Elliot rode the whole race in the big ring as the front wouldn't shift down. No wonder he finished so quick.
Oh, for sure... I could climb out of there in big ring if I wanted to just don't ask me to do anything afterwards!
P.S. Pass that 22-44 cassette will you?

unless I am mistaken Tracy taking out 1st place in the Women's Super Masters 50 km is the only MoBer with line honours?
And she had to wait for me at the top of the hills - o dear she's on a roller now.
