MYSTERIOUS DISCOVERY! The Trail of the Pharaohs...
Don't you love to discover the unexpected on those new rides....
Thanks to guidance by local "coastie" Andrew and (office-bound) Kurt we found ourselves in the deep valleys of Brisbane Water NP.
By means of a late intervention and cryptic descriptions by Kurt (PM'ed 20 minutes before the ride) plus Andrew's excellent hand-drawn maps...we made our way to what was described as the "Secret of the coast"
Little did we know what was in store for us...having lived in Sydney now for over 20 years, we never knew that just hundred km's north of the city there was clear evidence of an Egyptian (!) settlement that dates back approximately 5000 years!
To visit the secret (sacred) site known to the locals as the Gosford Hieroglyhps, we quietly went our way through secret paths into a swampy valley covered in ancient trees and small brooks...
Thanks to Kurt's description (and an ancient Youtube relic) we found the two "Guardian trees" that marked the entrance to the sacred site surrounded by giant boulders...
After several attempts to enter the inner circle...we finally found the fissure in the rock...just wide enough for a small person to fit through...Max boldy stormed ahead...and within another 10 metres of climbing we found the evidence of the famous Gosford Hieroglyhps! Go and explore this for yourself!
Narrow crevice....Andrew transcending, lifted by the ancient forces present at the site...
Hans and Max at the site of the discovery - applying advanced forensic techniques to the egyptian hieroglyphic carvings...
Overgrown with moss and lichen...Recent carbon dating puts the approximate age and origin at approx 3000 BC...

Hans, you are a classic!
I might try and check out a few more of the trails on this side of the road next week. I hear there is possibly a Pyramid hidden futher down the hill?
BWOAR!
A+ Hans
hahahha
interestingly
the mystery still lives on in the heiroglyphs
no one has actually ever said who did them
there are the various theories of course
one of the great mysteries of "things you can find in the bush"
Kurt
P.s my favourite theory is that the old farmer who fought in egypt in world war one did them

Rex never ceases to amaze me, I reckon he could find a colony of tasmanian tigers in Hyde park.
