Full Fling Training Ride - at a long steady pace
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
This is a training ride for the FULL FLING - it will be a long steady ride to test bikes, equipment and nutrition.
It is starting at 6.00am to avoid the heat of the day.
Distance 80K's (Perimeter, Long, Duck Holes, Waratah (stop for a short break), Centre, Centre in reverse, Duck Holes in reverse (stop a TH Shops to refill water), Perimeter, Long.
The pace will be steady but not roidy say 15+ kph average and there will only be 2 scheduled stops 1) at the end of Waratah (35k mark) and another back a TH shops (60k mark). We will regroup by slowing down or doubling back.
Expect pain and fatique if you come on this ride. Half Flingers feel free to join part way around, but we may not be too sociable
Were you there and have a story to tell?

I'll probably do this if my leg heals a bit more before the weekend.
but why not throw in towlers and elvina if its meant to be a training ride?
We can always go for a dip too at the bottom if its stinking hot
I think it'd be similar distances without having to do everything twice?
Duck, Waratah, Salvation, Towlers, Elvina, Centre, Perimeter, Long?
Just an idea
Loz
Lozza in the final week before I taper (I do the taper really well) what I'm looking for is a Long Steady Ride (LSR).
Not hills to build muscle, not pace to build speed but hours in the saddle just chugging away.
It's something I read a while ago at http://www.ultracycling.com/training/lsd_trainin...
and since I have no straight line speed and can't climb a damn, I adopted this as my training mantra.
Fast rides and massive climbs have there place in training as does LSR.
If a group of you want to break off after Waratah, no worries, we'll see you later on Perimeter/Long.
that's some interesting stuff
how can you push away a beer though?
I remember reading somewhere on this site that there should be "Balance in all things", so you only push away the beer while you are training and then pull it back in post-training. That way you retain harmony and all is well.
I'm going to bow out of this one and go to Damien's fun Dam ride instead. So space open for another keen rider. Sorry - should have really made that change yesterday.
Enjoy!
... Paul and the rest!
well done, boy's 81km and I'm half dead after bailing out half way, I think you guy's are ready for the Fling.. and my F A T is b#*@*y gr8t!!!
Bernd
Yes 81k, in 5:09 hr of moving time averaging 15.7k and climbing 1856 metres.
Not much left at the end except a sore butt and a touch of cramp.
Nothing major to report except a new Giant owners laying it down in the sand for a very soft off.

Stuart and Bernd joined us for the 6.00am start - Bernd I'm happy you're pleased with your Fat
crack a fat!!!!!!
...she is cool... The F A T is not fat at all, she is light, well for me she is, I changed from 15.8kg to 11.8kg! Happy as....
Bernd
Thanks for the ride Paul. Just what I needed coming up to the Fling.
It was a very evenly matched bunch of riders which was good as no one was left waiting too long Well except for maybe roid boys Tien and Loz
I had fun today. Great to get a decent spin in.
6am start time was a bit silly, but beating most of the heat was nice.
I did feel a bit stupid tho going on a training for a race I probably won't be competing in, haha
Good ride.

Tien.
Ok, just kidding, thanks for the tow for the first 20km guys and I hope the extra K's you did Paul doubling back to make sure I was still alive didn't hurt too much.
Great to actually get out and ride on a weekend and in daylight again, thanks
