Hey Newbies, don't read this.......Buck is our downhill aerial apprentice (L plates)

Buck, just make sure youre tires don't leave the ground.
Or make sure a blood collection unit follows you.

or can a meager cross country rider participate? I don't have any lights but keen to come. Will I definitely need them or has someone got a spare? Smiling

pikey's picture

Kiwigirl.
This group of trails are all fire roads it’s just got a nice selection of fast downhill erosion mounds (water bars) to fly off if you wish.

Lights, at this time of the year? its still bright enough at 8:30 to get back to the
Tavern especially under the glow of everybody else’s lights.
But if you find you like night riding you better start saving! (or learn to solder!)
See you Wednesday.

Well be there if we can grab some lights for the night. Our local bike store has promised to lend us some lights.
So were tentative at this stage though really excited as it would be our first night ride, Cheers Cath and Adam

shaz's picture

well im a newbie and am bringin two friends!!! we're below average level however one thinks he's hot stuff!!!

pieboy98's picture

Am keen for this ride, my first group ride, and meet the crew
depending on how work pans out should be good for a 7pm kick off

Colt's picture

So want to be there.... but I've got to be up 4:30am the next day, and it's a hour drive home for me too. And I just got the backup bike repaired too. Damn, sorry guys, I have to skip this. I'll get to a Newbie run eventually.

Colt

Lawrencem's picture

oo im keen to get in there and meet some of you guys. i dont have any friends to bring so ill be a nige.
um ill be coming in from parramatta after work , anyone know how long it might take and any good quick ways to get there? ( i have no idea what the traffics gonna be like)

Stuart M's picture

How can I test the new beast when you'll be back before dark?

Maybe, or I may tack on Perimeter after

Let there be light

christine's picture

you need to ride to prepare for the Mont anyway...

Buck's picture

Just wear sunglasses Stuart. We'll probably need them too given the light output!

lozza6's picture

I'm in town for 5 days so will squeeze this one in before i'm in the freezing cold of North America again Sticking out tongue

Bernd's picture

... in like flynn.......
Bernd

Slowpup's picture

How about you leave me some cash, I'll order you some dinner and a beer, and when you get
back from the extra lap in the dark, I'll have it all nicely finished.... (#_#)

Welcome back, the site's been low on traffic in your absence.

Don't they have the interweb in Canada yet?

Anyway, with 25+ riders the pace will be slower... wanna sweep Eye-wink ?

(eerily, your first night ride pic with 3W led came up in the random image window on this edit!)

Andy Bloot's picture

Would someone be kind enough to lend me some lights for this ride?
As most of it will be in daylight/ twighlight
I just need enough to see me through for the last hour or so
So don't need anything too fancy
Of course the kind person won't be buying their own beer afterwards

My bike budget is blown for the mo. so can't take advantage of the Ay-up 10% offer
But would like to do this ride

Thanks all - will probably do it anyway
But would like to have some lights if needed

christine's picture

some crisis you wont need them Andy - Duck Ponds usually only takes about an hour and it doesn't get dark until after 8 so you should be safe, i will search for my other lights - actually, i know where they are it's the charger that is being elusive...otherwise, ride with Stuart, he has enough lights for a four wheel drive!!! Smiling

Bernd's picture

..Andy, u wont need any lights with 27... 38!!! riders.... the 747 in the sky think TH is the new Sydney Airport!!!
Bernd

Echo's picture

Hi,

I'm just a newbie to the site and would love to come for a ride with you guys if there are any spots left. I may also have a mate who will come as well.

see you there Echo & co...

anke13's picture

I don't have lights, but as everyone said, it should be light enough to ride without.

Hans - if you have your spare set, I'd be most delighted...

lozza6's picture

As it's only going to be in the low 30's and I'm on holiday's I'm planning to get there early to warm up.

I'm thinking of riding Perimeter/Long departing the Tavern at 5.30pm so we can be back in time for the social ride.

I'm dependent on Angela getting home in time so my plans may change.

SMS me if you will be joining me and I'll advise you of any changes to these plans.

Stuart M's picture

so one more to the total in an attempt to make this truely unmanageable.

I may be late so don't wait, I think I know the trail and will catch you, probably at the first bottleneck.

Yes I am happy to sweep, I will bring an extra large broom

No I don't think you will need lights. It wasn't dark at St Ives last night until about 8.20. If you're not well on your way back to the pub by then, we have had some serious problems. It would be more important to bring a rear light than a front one, safety on the road and all

I will probably do Perimeter after this, detouring at the oval and yes you will need lights for that one.

See you all there.

Should we pack some refreshments for the rock platform?

Let there be light

Gary's picture

Would be happy to join you for some refreshments at the rock.

christine's picture

so, at the moment we have Paul doing the Long Trail etc from 5.30 BEFORE the social ride and Stuart you are riding the Long Trail AFTER the social ride? Gary is going with one of you...
just like things to be clear as ... unlike you two I AM at work and it's very taxing on my brain!

MEEE Smiling

Bernd's picture

its gr8t to be home alone dad!!!
but geting pay'd to surf the Nobmob site is cool, toooooo
Bernd

ScottM's picture

I could be anything up to half an hour late so I'll need to play catch ups. I assume that you'll just be following the main road down to the trail? There's not some secret single track starting near the Tav that I don't know about is there?

Cheers,
Scott.

Stuart M's picture

I will mostly likely be a little late as well so look for an good looking, comfortably built bloke with a carbon hardtail lurking around the carpark.

I'm not sure which way they plan on going, if you're really late the best thing to do is ride the trails in reverse, starting from the top od Centre Track, that way you are bound to run into everyone somewhere.

Or take the mobile number of a couple of people.

Blondie, I'm not certain about Long Trail. I think this basic ride will take considerably longer than usual so I may just do Perimeter from end to end and come back along the road.

Refreshments on the rock Platform, I was referring to one of the two about half way along Centre Track, one looking back at the Temple and the other at the sharp bend looking over the bush.

Let there be light

LadyToast's picture

38 riders!!!!

We'll use the whole carpark Smiling

christine's picture

apart from my not remarking on your looks... I am more than happy to stop at the lookout and also would like to do the extra bit of riding with you tooo Smiling

Thom's picture

How seriously do people take this?

I'm English so I'm used to riding in the rain, but the weather radar's looking interesting:

Tom

christine's picture

unless its pouring someone will be there, we aren't riding for three hours so i suspect it will pass.. they are a bunch of girls and will now all go on about it!!!

Morgan's picture

I'm bailing again - 8 hours working out in 36 degrees has done me in. I'm off to bed....

Bernd's picture

What the, just ride, even if I have to take my glasses of again.....
Bernd

Stuart M's picture

Thunderstorm over SnIves at the moment and the rain is starting.

What do you think Buck and Loz, I know you two are also conscious about riding wet trails?

Blondie, you know I don't like to get my hair wet

Let there be light

shano's picture

Bailing out! Sad

anke13's picture

I'm in unless it's pouring. I'll make a decision closer to 6pm. Will sms someone if I'm not coming.

Gary's picture

Happy to still turn up.

shaz's picture

hi guys well im a newbie and was rather excited re the ride tonite but i had a little fight with a rather sharp knife and sliced my finger, so am out for this one. hopefully they're will be plenty more.
