By Buck - Posted on 13 January 2009

When:
Saturday, 31 January, 2009 - 08:30
Duration:
3 hours
Come Rain or Shine:
If it's raining, I won't be there.
Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest
Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

Red Hill Road, NSW @-33.275884,151.377053
Details:

Well the calendar is pretty packed so I thought I'd get this one in early.
Ourimbah is always fun so I was thinking we could do 3-4 laps at a semi-training pace.

I'm never too serious about my training so there will be stops but we'll try to keep them less frequent than the social rides.

It maybe a good warm up for the ones doing the Sydney 24hr Eye-wink

Who's in?
Rob, Buck, Andy Bloot, GeordieAndy, sensai_miagi, jdb, Sascha, Rokkitboy (8 riders)

Hey Jay

Are you still up for this? Unfortunately it looks like I can't make this as I have other committments...doh!

If you are willing then I'm happy to leave this ride up so that you take over from me

Gus's picture

Keen to check out Ourimbah
Any interest in a Sunday, mixing up the x country and the down-hill?

Rokkitboy's picture

Had been planning a trip to Ourimbah for a few weeks with a mate so hopefully you won't mind if we join you for a spin - been a while since I've been up there so keen to see how the trails are at the mo - we'll be on a 575 and a Trance.

Buck's picture

Turns out I can make it. See you all there.

GeordieAndy's picture

But I'm not quite a 40min lap man so don't want to hold you up Smiling

Which car park is it, the first one or futher up near the start of the fat tyre race?

Edit: Sorry I've just read the details properly now!

See you there.

Buck's picture

We'll meet at the lower carpark.

Don't worry about the pace. There will be stops.

Damien's picture

Might se you up there and say high for a lap or so I will be up there a bit earlier with a mate.

Sure was a fun day out. Sorry the group split up into many parts. After the 2nd lap we completely forgot about training and went and did the DH track Smiling

Note to self......the DH track is no fun on XC bike after riding it on a proper DH bike one week ago! Laughing out loud

Andy Bloot's picture

We did another couple of laps at a reasonably good pace
Was a great ride on a great trail

It was good to be able to do a lap without Rob getting in the way
Damn slow coaches and their rest breaks (insert wink)

Gus's picture

Disappointed i couldn’t attend. Work was great though.
Hop you folks are looking forward to another one sometime soon.

Yeah - sorry about leaving. I sort of figured you'd know we were still playing but given someone (Buck & Tien!) didn't want to ride up to the DH start we took the car. Erm... suppose that might have looked like we did a runner.

Haven't been down the DH for ages - would have been good without that Trance rider falling over in front of me all the time! Eye-wink

Well call me a big girl or whatever Rob but I'll take an air conditioned shuttle to the top of a DH run over riding anyday Smiling
