bike insurance
Does anyone know about a bike insurance or contents insurance that covers bikes ? If you use contents insurance do you have the bike specified? Are you covered while racing? Is the bike covered for replacement value or secondhand value?
Any help or places to try would be great.

Bike only insurance and covers you in a crash, theft or even during an event or race. have a look through the nobmob site as this question was raised a month or so ago.
found the old chat forum about insurance here

I am with AAMI and to have it insured as part of the contents you just need it listed. I also opted for the out of home insurance which is $115 per year to have it insured for $4,300. With the latest increases I should up the amount. This insures it everywhere except while riding. ie broken parts.
specified and covered in all circumstances - about a $1 / week additional and it has to be specified.
Gav,
I have home contents insurance with Westpac (Premium Cover) and I don't have to list anything including my bikes and all is insured against theft and accidental breakage anywhere in Australia (access is $200). But home contents inscurance won't cover races or charity rides. I always have a $10k buffer for my total amount insured in case of total loss. If you go for a lower cover, you will have to list anything over $1000 and with bike prices going up, you will have to increase your cover. This can be very costly.
My advice - get a few different quotes. There are also policies that will cover you for up to 30 days overseas.
Obviously, if you don't need home contents, I'd get bike specific cover.
Hope this helps
I spoke to the guys at Velosure about... erm... insurance and explained their name came up online a lot.
The guy there gave me a referral code to spread about... if anyone does insure with them, if you quote this code it would be nice: 0992
