What i still can't work out is my max heart rate is of a 55 year old bloke! (yes, i did try my very best to exceed the max HR).

Anyone can suggest other training to increase my max heart rate? (i hate gyms).

Tien.

Hey Tien, I wouldn't worry about your heart rate being so low. You just need to work out what range you can keep it in that will allow you to complete the ride. For me sustaining 180bpm isn't out of the normal but ideally I would like to have it at about 165bpm and this is what I will be aiming for at Dirtworks.

Below is a short ride I did this afternoon which seamed ok and I averaged 172bpm.

Tien, I notice on MB you have your max HR set at 170. This is a user setting - so are you really 55 years old? Eye-wink

Reckon you should be happy to be able to ride fast at a lower BPM. My average yesterday was 150 versus your 126 so quit complaining! Sticking out tongue
