Fling Minus Some
Two weeks after The Mont and back we go to another field full of tents for some more race fun. Here's how the 2007 Fling went for Rob...
Aside from not getting a decent nights sleep (due to roasting hot sleeping bag inside chilly tent - too hard to get the temperature 'just so') everything ran smoothly on Saturday and Sunday morning. Seemed to be timing things just right, from arriving, setting up and giving the bike a once over to rolling up at the start with 10 mins to go.
MWMTB STXC & Cyclo-cross
St Ives Showground
Last time I convinced Rob to take his Celeste Indulgence off-road it ended in tears, lets see if he's prepared to give it a go in it's more natural environment (sans 1000's of screaming drunk Belgians).
CX racing will start at 6:30 & is preceded by Short Track XC - the event described by Paul Rowney as the Hurricane of Pain! Come to race or just to watch the Spectacle.

2007 Mont - Eat it up!
Let's start by saying first off that the Mont experience was a blast, and I'm definitely up for another 24 hour race next year.
Why it's necessary to start that way is that my report isn't a glowing rave about the weekend, but that's only because a number of rather silly episodes meant the cherry topped icing was missing from my Mont cake. Still, a tasty cake it was, so let's quickly summarise then zap through the events of the weekend (from a rather Rob'd slant - see Mont 24 Hour Wrap for more angles).
Summary
So here's how NoBMoB-ish teams managed:
MONT-y Python, 34 laps, 32nd/68 in Open Six Male
NoBMoB Monties, 31 laps, 47th/68 in Open Six Male
Team UFO, 17 laps, 66th/68 in Open Six Male
NoBMoB, 36 laps, 11th/47 in Open Six Mixed
NobMob Soft Shocks, 27 laps, 42nd/47 in Open Six Mixed

What a weekend. Home now, completely buggered. Bring on next year?
Please comment here (or in your blog, or in another event topic) on your experiences otherwise am sure the main thread will become overcrowded.
Sydney Spring Fat Tyre Festival - 8 1/4 hrs of Power
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
If you'd been at the Sydney 24hr in the last couple of years you may have seen a rather disreputable looking party in one corner of the camp site known affectionately as the 12 Hours of Power. I'd post photos but they probably need to go in the Over 18 section.
These very same people have put together this:
