RNP track work day scheduled for this Saturday

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all,

Sorry for the late notice but just a reminder that we have a track work day scheduled for this Saturday.

I’m going to get some good quality crushed sandstone dumped up at the northern top end of the single track, so any of those sites that need patching can be done. Or would it be better to have some dumped next to the railway tracks as well?

Patsy will be taking you so at least you’ll get a decent morning tea for a change.

Cross Training?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Yesterday I was speaking to a fellow rider who was scoffing at my 'training' lately, and didn't think spending a day playing with trail building would help.

Well, I'm here to tell you that if you get stuck into it, trail building is as good a workout as you'll get. Admittedly it was a bit warm at Del Rio today (low 30s with a nice breeze), but after a couple of hours of shovelling I was drenched as I sat for a welcome break. Was wearing a tee and long pants (lightweight, treking gear - I've walked in the Sinai desert in these!) and not a dry spot on the whole outfit.

I've been asked to con some suckers talk some willing volunteers into helping out with some track building at Del Rio, in preparation for the Sydney 24.

If you ride trails loads but don't ever build here's your chance to learn all about it and help out.

Show up for the weekend (see Saturday's meeting) or just one day, I believe free camping at Del Rio is on offer for helpers. They have a bar and pool to cool down in later. There might be BBQ food on offer too, but am not sure - best bring some food just in case!

Jul/Aug Wingello Working Bees

With Fling entries open and people signing up all over the place think it's an apt time to mention a couple of working bee weekends in July/August down at Wingello.

The two dates planned as of now are:

Saturday 19 July
Saturday 23 August

If you want to help building on some top trails in the forest contact Huw, details here:

Finished padded jump, awaiting my big toe smash! finding out that run in, take off and landing angles are all rather important factors - and why did I put it right after a sharp turn again?
