So who's up for 100+ km of dirt?

I've always wanted to do this classic ride in both directions (much harder going up!), and in the light of the Convict 100 in May (formerly Dirtworks) this gives me all the more reason to do such a long ride. Obviously not for the faint hearted, but any of those brave enough to join me, be my guest.

Here's how it'll go:
Leave Glenbrook 7:45, riding down to causeway, on dirt road to The Oaks and along the Oaks Firetrail. Long grind!
Hopefully reach Woodford by 9:45 & refill water
Down Murphy's Firetrail to Bedford creek (Downhill for once!)

Hills

Can anyone suggest some good places for some hill training on a trail of some sort?

Something that will have a good 5-10 minute climb on dirt.

I live near the city so can access most places in a comparable time.

Thx

There's basically four sections to this out and back firetrail: Great downhill (Anderson's style) descent that lasts forever, that gets down to a beautiful bridge. Then followed by an equally forever uphill (the erosion on some of the tarseal doesn't help) when we come to a campground. That's before hitting the steepest bit of all, which goes forever. Things start to get a bit easier, as it's only small inclines and declines for 3km before the Quarry Road gate. After turning around, we go off to the left fork at the campground for more small ups and downs.

I'm doing my std hill training session but twice to cover about 50k. By doing all tracks up and down one lap becomes about 25ks. On a few occasions I've set out to do two laps but I always find an excuse to cut it short. Perhaps with some company and suitable peer pressure the full 50ks of pain can be endured.

Note, this is a reasonably hard ride and the 50ks should be covered in about 3 hours.

I set the limit to 4 but that can be extended in the unlikely event that there are enough characters out there who are intrested.
