Lights - Lupine?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

A topic covered a thousand times before, I’m sure, so apologies.

I am looking at purchasing lights, both for commuting and off road. To date I have been using the Exposure lighting system ($600 +) which I have had all sorts of troubles with (eg, chargers faulty, lights not even water resistant let alone water proof, main light has stopped working altogether and now the helmet light is on the blink). Needless to say, I won’t be purchasing Exposure lights.

Garmin Edge 705

Hi guys I'm after some advise. i just picked up a Garmin Edge 705 but am confused as to loading maps. I've done some research and Shonkymaps keeps popping up as the candidate for the topo maps. Can I load turn by turn mapping as well so I can use as a navigational GPS (for driving) as well as topo maps? What have those with this unit done? Any advise appreciated - Steve

Garmin firmware update

FYI there's a firmware upgrade available on the Garmin web site for Edge 605/705 devices.
From 3.10 to 3.20, June 14 2010

One item that caught my attention that I had questioned Garmin support about in the past, and ultimately requested as a future 'feature' is:

Backlight setting now saved to configuration and set automatically on power-on.

I've updated my 705 and will test it out tomorrow.

cheers
Jon

Attaching lights - rubber bands

Got a nightlight during the week and while attempting to attach to my bars I succesfully (or unsuccessfully) snapped both "o" rings.(you get what you pay for Smiling I jury rigged it with some zip ties but anyone know where you can get the thick "o"ring type rubber bands or some other method of attaching to bars. So far have tried Sparts at Forestville, Clarks Rubber, Whitworths ( who had shock cord)........

Where to buy Battery?

I'm looking at buying the all new 7 UP Trout Light http://www.troutie.com/index.php?option=com_cont... but they can no longer ship matching Li-ion or Polymer batteries to Australia due to air freight import restrictions. So can anyone recommend where I could purchase a 14.8v 5.2Ah bottle battery other than Lupine please? I don't have time nor have the inclination to build one either.

Thnx - Winco

MagicShine?

As there's been some talk about this recently, thought I'd post up these images of a MagicShine a guy at work just picked up from DX.

As you can see, it came with a US plug and has not actually got any branding at all on the box (pictures are back/front).

Please excuse the phone-cam pictures.

Torpedo7 - ROUTE 7 High Power P7 (900L) LED Headlight for $99!

http://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/R7LI4N0LI

Might consider buying one of these.

Does anyone else have one, how do they rate?

The LED is Good (P7 LED 900 Lumens) and they say up to 180 min on 100% anfd the batteries are Lithium Ion with recharge time of 3.5 to 4H.
Neat feature of power LED going red when battery has 25% left.

Just got the email today so it looks like a weekly special.

let me know your thoughts

Cheers
