SONlight bike light

About a month or so I saw someone post on here about a new local (Perth) company that was selling a bike light. I decided to have a look into them and from what I saw, sold my Ayups and bought a twin set of the SONlight SL2000 Mk2. I have also decided to do a rambling review which is a little lengthy, but gives my personal observations about the lights. I haven't done a lot of Mountain bike riding with them yet, just one trip out, but I have found these awesome for both road and MTB.

Feel free, or not, to read my review.

Edge 500 and temperature

Been riding a bit lately in Canberra and noticed my garmin only records temperature in whole degrees. Also it doesn't seem to measure values below zero. Is this something anyone else has experienced?

Making movies - why are mine crap :(

Was given a Go Pro for my birthday and have recorded a bit of riding and have gone through the journey of mounting positions, the crap formatting stop/start ing issue, and even after al that they look rubbish.

Are there any tips on how to make them a bit interesting besides throwing myself of the edge or trying to do death defying stunts (to add I'm 41 yrs old). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SON light bike lights

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Finally get to pick up my new bike lights this week. Laughing out loud I'll give them a couple of rides to/from work and a hit out at Jarrahdale and then post a review about them. They are from a local company called SON lights if anyone who hasn't seen their Facebook page is interested, and their website will be up later this week for ordering.

Magicshine/ cheap lights long term review?

So I saw everyone was buying the Magicshine lights a while ago.
Even though I've had my Aye ups upgraded, I'm not really happy with them when I'm training on the road.
I have some powerfull homemade lights that I use for Mtb events but I'm looking for a cheap light I can put on and take off the road bike quickly.
Is everyone happy with the Magicshines and are they more powerful than the Aye ups?
Cheers in advance,
Gazza

Recording Routes EGDE 500

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I have an Garmin Edge 500 and I was curious if it is possible to record route that I have rode, for example if I did a circuit at Forsyth Mills can the Edge record this route and then could I use the “Course” function to use this information for navigation?

Am help on this would be great. I understand you can plot routes on various web-based packages and then export them as TCX file which can be loaded on to the device. I find this a struggle with trails though as they are typically obscured by trees or it is near impossible to resolve the track.

Thanks

Steve.

Front Lights Designed Here in Perth

Hello all,

I just wanted to let people know about some cheap good quality Front lights I have found. After a month of looking for a reasonably powerful light at a good price I have found lights that are actually designed here in Perth.

The company is Son Light and they currently have 2 models, the SL2000 with a 1400 lumen output and the SL3000 with a 3000 lumen output.
I purchased 2 x SL2000 light and they work great. The lights even come with a headband which is great.

Broken Edge 500

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I acquired a Garmin Edge 500 to replace my bulky looking 705 and thought it would look quite racey to buy some of the Barfly mounts, the ones that place the unit in front of the stem rather than on top.
While it looks pretty slick and works well on the road bike, its not so practical on my Mtb.
I discovered this when I smacked into a tree at a race and broke the connecting tabs off the mounting plate on the underside of the unit.
