Waterproof treatments to re waterproof a rain jacket?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

So I stayed off the sodden trails on the weekend and instead headed out on the road. I've got a 6 year old "waterproof" jacket.

Netti with Entrant that was meant to be like goretex. Anyway riding on the weekend my jacket just became wet and slowly seaped through. My partners jacket is the same model but only two years old and the water was beading straight off hers.

This is the jacket http://www.bicyclehq.com.au/clothing/jackets-and...

Anyone had any luck with waterproofing treatments? Any recommendations?

Chain twist & Dérailleur pulley not springing back

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

T'was cleaning the drive train with the rear wheel off and for the life of me, could not understand how the chain twisted like this.

Short of unlinking it and twisting it out, is there another quick way to untangle this mongrel?
Other google posts of jiggling it like a lipton tea bag didnt work...

Tubes vs Tubeless, the rematch

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

What is the current opinion of tubeless systems over tubes? Tubeless tyres seem to be almost universal amongst serious mountain bikers, but even with everyone saying "you would never go back" I am not sure if I should go that way.

The main point in favour of tubeless seems to be lack of punctures. Its not something you would do to save weight, and getting light UST rims is pricey since they are intrinsically heavier.

UST compatible rims - how to?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Some advise needed.

Invested in a pair of UST compatible wheels and are pondering on the following:
1) Should I use that liquid sealant in them any way?
2) If I do get a flat is is just a matter of removing the fixed valve and chucking in a tube?
3) There is a warning label stating not to use tools to get the tyres on and off. Hmm, if I cant use tyre levers to get the tyre off - then how can I?
4) I normally ride on cross marks but they are on the heavy side. What's light with low rolling restistance and offer OK cornering grip?

If your seat post is past the max limit, what damage can that do to the bike and the seat post?
