Help please......

Looking to clean up the garage and have some stuff i would like to sell. I will not post them for sale just then as i need to gauge how much they are worth for my parents. I have:

1 Gt Outpost 2009 frame-decent condition plus stock wheels, tires, cranks and stem (the drivetrain and handlebars are not in good nick)-was in use for six months.

1 2010 SR Suntour XCR fork-great condition-Was also in use for six months

any price measurements would be handy............

Bottom bracket repair

I was riding at Stromlo and I noticed a squeaking sound coming from the bottom bracket. I want to repair/replace any parts myself. Do I need any special tools to do this job, and if so, what tools? (I don't want to take it to a bike shop because the last time I went, they forgot to put the axle back in the wheel :/)

Drivetrain Compatability

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Few questions about drivetrain Compatability with shimano and SRAM both having new stuff on the market in both 2 x 10 and 3 x 10. every review I read focuses on one brand or anther but not anything about the mix of the two.

Anyway currently I run, SRAM XO rear derailuer, SRAM 990 rear cassette, SRAM X0 shifters front and rear, Avid Juicey brakes, XTR front derailuer, XT 3 x 9 Crankset, XTR chain. The mix of XT / XTR on the front deraileur and crankset with SRAM rear works great and I have never experienced any problems.

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if i could get some advice on upgrading my bike to an more all mountain able machine. It is an GT avalanche 2.0 2010 ( http://www.gtbicycles.com/bikes/archive-1/2010/a... ) which i have already added an upgraded fork and wheel set to (Sr suntour epicon 140mm travel and an shimano mt65 wheel set)

i am thinking about putting a adjustable seat post on and also a new handlebar stem combination:

I am also wondering if these will fit the bike etc.....

These are the links and any help would be appreciated:

Derailer

I have a SRAMX4 Derailer and chain has been changed twice now from wear.

Is it better to change to Shimano derailer and new shimano hg chain.
Is it worth changing over?I have read shimano chains are better than Sram.

Music while riding speakers

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi all Smiling

Just thought I'd ask you mtb'ers if you've come across any decent speakers for riding?

99% of the time I ride on my own and like to listen to music so I have used the Altec Orbital 207 with an mp3 player for about 2 years and its awesome quality and volume but unfortunetly its no longer made and the newer version looks way too big to carry on my handle bars

I prefer speaker to ear plugs so I can hear whats going on, bike, cars ect

any ideas / suggestions

what I use now the 207 link ...

29ers vs 26ers

Looking to upgrade the bike at some stage but a mate and i are reviewing the benefits from riding the 29ers. The mags reckon the 29ers are the way to go with some other recent reviews pitcing the 29ers over the 26 inch. Refer www.mbaction.com , MArch 2011 edition, pages 43-48.
A test ride may be the way to go perhaps?

Broken spoke...

I went riding the other day and when i was cleaning bike afterwards i noticed that one of my rear spokes on the casset side was broken. It has snapped at the end where the thread is inside the nipple.
Can i fix this myself with basic tools (chain whip and casset tool) and a new spoke ofcourse, or do in need to take this to a bike shop. If the latter is the solution, is $30 for a repair job decent value?

Loose Skewer

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Can anyone tell me why my front skewer keeps running loose? Since having the bike serviced 6 weeks ago my front skewer runs loose during rides. It loosens so much that the whole skewer shifts position (from pointing upwards to pointing downwards). I keep forgetting about until I look down whilst flying through the trails to see it pointing the wrong way... Impending wheel detachment and a superman over the handlebars is most likely:)
