CenterLock Disc Rotors with Avid Brakes and installation...

After a bit more research.. a few more questions:

Has anybody experience with centerlock disc rotors with Avid brakes? Shimano obviously says use centerlock rotors only with Shimano brakes...
What rotor brand did you use?

I could find Avid rotors on CRC in 185 (Shimano apparently only has 180...).
The only 203 I could find was from Shimano.

Do I need a special tool to install the centerlock rotors? Got the impression but couldn't find any conclusive information.
What is it called? Any shop recommendation?

Thanks
Sascha

Fulcrum Spokes

Hello,

I'm considering buying some Fulcrum Red Metal Zero wheels (CRC has some good deals...). I tried finding a website where I could buy spare spokes, but that seems to be rather difficult. CRC has a few sets but not for the Zeros.

Does anybody have any experience with Fulcrum spares and where I could get them either on the web or in Sydney?

Any hint appreciated. Thanks
Sascha

Tyre Pressure

Hey,

being only new to MTB and doing the usual Dam, falls etc trails I generally run my tyres at 40psi, talking to a bloke on the weekend said that I should be running them at max 25-30psi ? seems to low but whats the G.O?

Rockshox Pike Issues

Having some issues with my rockshox pike 454 forks.

Just got back from the angry doctor - going down the downhill section at the 70k mark (after that enormous hill) I lost all travel in my fork.

All I get now is a loud clunk if I hit anything. There is no compression what so ever.

I am not into bike mechanicals at all - just love riding. Anybody got any ideas of what this could be ? Blown seAls ? Fork requires rebuild or fork is completely stuffed.

Will take it to LBS but just wanted a heads up before the guy at the store gives me alot of bad news.

Help with rear derailleur sizes

Hi all. Was hoping someone mechanically experienced might be able to help me with my move to a shorter cage rear derailleur and quieter drive train. I've got a 2008 Giant Reign 1 which i've modified to have just a single 32T chain ring up front and still the stock standard 11-34T cassette at rear. The stock standard long cage SRAM x9 rear mech is still there but I'm looking to buy a small or medium cage SRAM x9 for a tighter ride. Can i go to small? Thanks for any help. Happy trails.

6 days with a leaky brake

First post...yay me Smiling

Being relatively new to MTB, and the world of hyrdaulic disc brakes in particular, I need a word of advice.

Riding to work southwards down the Spit during the week my front brake decided it would be of no apparent use. The back works fine. I tested it once I rolled over the bridge, finding that it did very little to stop me, and barely even slowed me down. They're Tektro Auriga Comp hydros on a Mongoose Amasa Comp.

Cracked Scott Spark frame - not 1 but 2!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just wondering if anyone has experienced any problems with the Scott Spark frames? I purchased a Spark 50 about 6 months ago and the rear triangle cracked completely through on the bottom stay close to the main frame. Had the rear triangle replaced and frame upgraded to a Spark 40. Have ridden the bike maybe half dozen times around manly Dam Terry Hills etc. Last weekend the frame cracked in exactly the same place on the rear triangle after about the same amount of riding as the first round.

Replacing rear derailleur?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I'm not really happy with the performance of the shifting (not accurate and a bit slow) on my bike and I am wondering where to start. I imagine the components on it are not crash hot and I was thinking of replacing my rear derailleur with something a bit better. The current derailleur is a shimano deore that came standard on my GT avalanche 2.0. My shifters are alivio but not sure its worth replacing those just yet. I have an 8 speed shimano cassette so l want to make sure that if I replace the derailleur it will suit my current setup.
