cleaning my chain? how often?

hey guys

im just wondering, how often should i clean my chain?

should i do it after each ride when i get home
get a rag, take off all the grease and sand and dirt then re-apply some lubricant?

or am i ok to leave it for say a few weeks before it gets a clean?

just wondering whats the best way to deal with a dirty chain

thanks!

How to give bike advice?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

You know the drill, a "non-biker" at the workplace or friend wants to buy a bike to ride to work or weekend etc.

One workmate today told me he'd seen my bike(s) and want one just like it BUT only want to spend $100 (cough)

I tried to explain to him that my bikes cost $5k each but he's back with a unfazed reply, "so do you think i can get a good bike for $100 then"?
I try pushing the price up to $500+ where it gets some parts and names that inspire "some sort of confidence".

No, the price is firm, $100 only. What about a secondy? Nup - saw these new ones for that much at K Mart.

looking for large pedals

hey guys

i need to get new pedals for my bike
at the moment ive only got the original default pedals, but i find theres not enough grip with them so im constantly slipping

i decided i dont want to get clips since im not doing any sort of road riding and i like to have my feet free in case i lose balance in corners so i can stick my foot out

so im just wondering what kinda pedals should i get.

so far ive only found this one, but there has to be more out there?

More good service

You have to love walking into the LBS (Cranks in North Sydney in this case) for a brake bleed and walking out 5 mins later with it all done despite the 3 customers/3 staff already in there when you arrive.

Thanks guys! Smiling

Yes, yes, must get an Avid kit, but the 7's I have are now about 18 months old, still perfect, never bled.

Leaky forks ?

Hi guys

A friend of mine has been on holiday for a couple of weeks and has come back to find a couple of drops of oil on the bottom of the right fork leg, where the rebound adjuster is . He has a rock shox Tora fork. His bike was stored right side up, on its two wheels .... (I've had some issues when my bike was inadvertantly stored upright and got some leakage from the o-ring at the stanchion...coming back on the train from the gong ride.

Apparently its only one or two drops.

Any thoughts from the highly tech literate crew out there ?

Shock pressures

Is there any guide to what pressures to put in the front and rear shock

I'm riding a Yukon FX and weigh about 80kgs, mainly riding the dam.
