New spokes and wheel trueing on a Sunday AM?

Just got back from a nice ride with my youngest in Royal NP...and now just noticed 2 busted spokes (nipples) and wheel wobble on my DT Swiss 4.30 rear rim.

Question: I wanted to go on a ride tomorrow (Sunday)...any suggestions where I can get (on the LNS, on a Sunday morning)

a) DT Swiss spokes and nipples
b) a quick "on the spot" wheel trueing service?

Appreciate your suggestions.

Thx Hans

Garmin Edge Training Center - Please assist

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The standard map in Garmin Training Center is crappy. Yes I know I can view it in Google earth but it looks like a million little photos laid down instead of a nice red/purple line. Please, I have been reading GPS and mapping forums and BS for about 2 hours. Save me! All I want to do is d/l a map and stick it in the Garmin folder and see a better map in Training Center. I never new the world of GPS was infinitely complicated.

A map with some topo lines would be nice, and a few more streets than the basic map shows.

Rear air shock, needs pumping up?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I have been riding my first dualie for a few months now and decided I wanted to try out an air shock to compare against the coil I have now.
So I bought 2 second hand shocks (very cheap) to try out, problem is when I installed either of them as soon as I sat on the bike the shock didn't hold my weight at all and just compressed fully.

First I thought they were both faulty but that is very unlikely seeing as they came from two completely different people.
So do the shocks just need pumping up?

Truvativ HammerSchmidt

In case you can't immediately tell by the pictures this is a crank/BB package that replaces two front chainrings with an internal mechanism. You get "equivalent to a 22/36 or 24/38 chainring" but with more clearance (and what looks to me like more weight, but can't find those specs).

Mostly of interest to DH'ers (with lots of $$$).

There's a flashy marketing site here: http://www.magicmechanics.com/

And some spiel from NSMB here: http://www.nsmb.com/page/s/2585/truvativ-hammers...

32 t or 34 t on rear cassette?

Opinions please...

I am about to order a 11-32 teeth SRAM PG 990 rear cassette...on special at CRC..

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?m...

My Enduro has 11-34 as standard...how noticable is the difference?

http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spi...

Riding style is mainly XC ...and I haven't run out of low gearing yet on the current 11-34 ratio...

What is your view / experience on this?

Thx Hans

Chain Rection order - now closed sorry

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi guys, well here is another Chain Reaction order you can be part of...

I'm currently looking at getting around AU$270 worth of stuff, and paying AU$52 delivery.
I am around $330 short of qualifying for free postage so thought i'd see if any other NobMobers would like to add to the order, saving on postage and possibly reducing it to $0. Smiling

I am looking at placing this order online on {edit} Thursday morning (8am), 14/08/2008 {edit}.
Also note that i would like to keep this order below $900 to avoid any issues with import duty.

So, any takers?

Cheers,
Will.

Holy grail of saddles anyone?

Hey all,

Having experienced the old Johnny Cash special on more than one bad saddle choice in the past I thought I'd throw it out there to see who swears by what for their cheek comfort over long distances.

Your responses may affect my next choice of purchase....

Which Bike <$4000 ?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I'm looking to buy a new mountain bike and was hoping for some recommendations as to what to buy and where from.

Currently riding Manly Dam & Oxford Falls on a Merida hardtail and want to upgrade and am wondering what would be best for me. I've read the posts on the Giant Trance X1 which seems like a good option, are there any other options out there ? Would the Giant Reign X1 be suitable, or is it a lot heavier than the Trance X1 (I don't do any downhill at present).
