Increasing stroke length

I have my eye on upgrading the septune shock on my 05 Stumpy 120.
It's a 7.5 x 1.75, but I can only find a 7.5 x 2.00 for a replacement (Fox float)
Will the extra .25 inch stroke make much/any difference to the fit or geometry etc
I recently updated my fork to one with 140mm travel from the previous 130mm if this has any relevence to the answer.

Single speeds

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

GDAY FOLKS,

have been keen to get into single speed riding for a while now
and have started looking around at options
am looking for a 26" medium frame w/ a 80 to 100 mm fork
something i could ride around the streets, maybe even a lap of manly dam
have rung most of the bike shops and no real positive response
Being an engineer, was contemplating buying an old 2nd hand XTC or similar,
cutting out old hangers and welding in horizontal drop outs,
fitting a conversion kit and running 32-16? ratio??
am hoping to keep cost below $1000
any ideas and info would be appreciated

Best tyres for the dam?

Hi folks,

I currently have tried a mix of ignitors, high rollers, fat slicks (my commuter, don't ask), wierwolfs ... and I'm not happy with any of them. I'm going to run the dam more regularly and may as well set my bike up or it specifically.

Can you friendly regulars give me your favourite tyre choice? Including front/rear pref if you have one?

Many thanks,
Ric

CPSC Certification

Hi

I have a Bell sweep r.

It is CPSC Certified.

Can I race with this in Australia or do I have to get a new helmet?

Thanks

Hugo

Forks need a service

Alright boys and girls with far greater knowledge than I,
I need to get my forks serviced (reba race 29er) but i want to make sure they are in good hands and that they understand fork setup as well. Sowhere would i find such a workshop? what sort of cost should i be expecting?
Is DIY an option or should i just take it to a bike shop that knows what they are doing?
Cheers

LED lights from China

Yesterday someone was asking about lights and I stumbled across a great site called candlepower. I started digging and there appear to be a huge number of people doing incredibly detailed reports on LED torches.. One that caught my eye was the JetBeam Jet II

The Rollers

Has anybody used rollers for training and if so how did you like them, I thought they may be good as you still have to keep your balance, so may be less boring. I also wondered if they would be noisy. Torpedo7 has a special on them now.
