The Hill is alive!
Proudly supporting Pedal4Pierce
Stromlo Forest Park, Canberra
19 - 21 November 2010
...A whole weekend – bringing the hills of Stromlo Forest Park to Life with MTB endurance, dual slalom, short track cross country racing and fun social rides, all for a good cause!
The Angry Hill
Red Hill Reserve car park, off Lady Penryhn Drive, Beacon Hill. Another option is to ride over here from Oxford Falls.
Do some varied riding , make up for lack of Angry Doc. Some tech and single track....No sand..or pink rock.
Wahroonga Trailbusters
End of Grosvenor St, Wahroonga
Just planned to go for a quick run through this network of firetrail (and a bit of singletrack). I'm not planning to go at super speeds, but would prefer to do it at a fairly effecient pace.
Not quite sure of the exact route, though intend to go to Marrua Road through the tracks and ride back via the roads. There are numerous exits, so one of them may be selected instead.
Night ride - Glenbrook to the Oaks
Glenbrook Park. In the small car park opposite the shops.
Night ride - Glenbrook to the Oaks(the middle gate) via Euroka and Bennetts Ridge firetrail, return on the Oaks single track.
Father's Day Doddle
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Planning on burning off the Father's Day smoked salmon, eggs and hollandaise sauce breakfast! I do not plan on going at this overly hard but I would like to make a decent go of it at least. Will be heading along Terrey Hills Trail/Duck Holes, around to Centre, ride around to Perimeter and then, depending how I feel, either out to Long and then either back to the car via Perimeter or Cullamine Tracks.
Berowra Bushy Firetrails
Playground at the roundabout of Berowra Waters Rd and the Gully Road (Parking is nearby)
So I'm planning to ride this great loop with 5km of enclosed firetrail with descents punctuated with waterbars, lookouts, mostly covered in ferns, and I rate this one of the best firetrails in Hornsby District.
After that there'll be some 'interesting' stuff (which you'll find out about if you come), followed by several other good downhill firetrail blasts, before finishing up for a day.
Mt Annan Opening Ceremony
Main carpark in the gardens.
Their address is Mount Annan Drive, Mount Annan NSW 2567. See:

Yellomundie Roll
There's a car park (click for foggy picture) on Springwood Road - just down the way from Hawkesbury Heights if you're looking for a suburb name.
A medium paced roll out at Yellomundie. Been off the mtb for a couple of months for the winter, with road training the only option with the weather. I hope to compete in the summer enduro series so would like to get a few km up on the track.
Generally a skills brush up, but would like to put in a good "world cup" lap at some point.
All welcome, happy to show someone the track if they havent done it before. PM or phone if you need details of how to get there.
Canbera Explore
Uriarra Road, just up from the Uriarra Road/Coppins Crossing Road turnoff.
Planning on heading to Canberra for the long weekend to check out all Canberra has to offer.
At this stage the plan is -
Sat morning ride Stromlo and then Sat afternoon ride Sparrow Hill.
Sunday morning Majura and Sunday choose favourite ride to do again.
Monday is flexible depending on who stays on.
Plan on camping at Carotel-the idea of a hot shower after riding overrode the want for a campfire.
I have not riden Canberra before and am super keen to get out amonst it. Saying that I am more than happy to take advice or recommendations to make the weekend even more enjoyable.
Marramarra NP - the brave or the stupid
Bloodwood Road, Fiddletown heads up to the National Park. There's a sharp right bend by Marramarra Ridge Trail, with Coba Point Fire Trail shortly after (the proceeding sharp left). There's parking by either trail which are less than 1km apart, but the area by Coba Point Fire Trail is the go.
I intend meeting at the Marramarra Ridge junction, though I don't fancy driving down the dirt road, so will park where the sealed road ends and ride the rest of the way.
My plan is to hit the grand loop of the Smugglers descent and enormous climb up from the creek. If we aren't dead from that ordeal, having some action on the Coba Ridge track (which resembles the Great Northern Road) could hit the spot.
There are several detours that can be taken if desired; just must work out which ones to take. This is not a ride for the shy, as it will test your handling skills in many forms, but if they are good, this makes a great ride, and there are many long sweeping tracks to break up these difficult sections.
