total fire ban

Garigal has "Total fire ban- no access" signs up at the Wyatt Ave entry at the start of the Heath/Bare Creek track at Belrose. There is nothing about it on the DECC website. I was a bit pissed off but turned back. Is this NPWS's usual trick of putting up a sign and leaving it there for weeks on end way after the event ?

ok, 3 months ago we ness and i did our 1st lap of the dam in just over 1hr 20. we have since bought giant trance x2's (sweet rides) and started riding pretty regularly. i timed a lap last week and mangaged a lung busting leg burning 38min 45sec and was pretty chuffed, ness then did a 40min on the dot. both pretty happy, and riding improving every ride.

Total Fire Ban Confirmed

Total Fireban / trail closure at NP's (20/11/09)

Heads up... this just came in from a local ranger:

Please note that there is a Total Fire Ban predicted for this weekend (21 – 22 Nov) this will lead to closure of all fire trails and tracks within the Sydney basin parks.

Here’s the Rural Fire Service website link to check Friday night if the ban will in fact be placed http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/dsp_content.cfm?cat_id...

Keep safe.

Update: Confirmed for Friday 20th. See image.

There are some rides planned on the Oaks this weekend, but looking at the above and given the forecast temperature and winds it might be wise to postpone. Or at least double check conditions before setting off.

I don't know if this is a one off thing for this weekend, or a policy set in stone. It would seem wise to stay out of larger and more remote parks when the fire danger is extreme, but out of every park in the Sydney basin seems a bit excessive. Will update with more news as it comes in.

Is Red Hill off limits now to MTB's also or just moto's?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just heard today that a few moto's were fined $2200 each after they were caught riding in the Red Hill area. Apparently they were coralled by a helicopter and a couple of guys on Moto's before they were caught. Is this for real? Has anyone else heard this or am I being had?!? I always thought Red Hill was crown land. Look forward to the feedback Smiling

Red hill ride direction

Can anybody tell me the best direction to ride the red hill trails?....i have been up there and still yet to work out where i shound be going!
So far i have headed from the plateau at the carpark down past the bmx track and then along a longish downhill section eventually ending up next to the rural fire station on willandra road. I was told that i coould then rejoin the trail by cromer golf coarse and head back that way. Anyway, it would be appreciated if somebody could tell me the best loop to do in the area with a bit of freeride thrown in!?

Kind regards

Matt.

Cascades condition

Anyone ridden Cascades this week since the rain?

Anywhere rideable today?

I've got a few hours free today and would like to go for a ride.
Any suggestions on somewhere local that would be rideable after all this rain? Or should I stay at home instead...

I was thinking maybe Duck Hole + Centre?

Coming up to the twin rock step up Sat 7.30 am ( the one near the golf course and just before the rock garden) I caught up to a girl who had a run at the steps - most get the first one - the 2nd one is tricky. Knowing this I didn't bother as I didn't want to crash into her and walked offline to stretch my legs when some guy starts yelling "Get off the track" " I am coming through" and when the girl missed the 2nd step he basically crashed into her.

Dude - she was there first having a go - Put your manners back in!
