Couldn't spell Pleurisy
Well what a great time we had, I got to the track around 6am on race day to find Whisperer had claimed an awesome spot on the track and erected 2 large tarps to set up camp under. The race started at 9:10am and the pace was furious, we had a ok lead after around 6 laps but we weren't holding anything back, the track was a lot of fun and took me back to 2003-2006 when the 24 hour races were held there. I thought the track would be in worse shape than back then but happy to say it has improved noticeably.

A reason to vote...
... sorta!
Abbott in his budgie smugglers may have gotten my vote on the count of being a roadie triathlete but Labor announced the following:
“The 2010-11 budget also included a number of infrastructure measures that will benefit the tourism industry, including:
• $996 million for rail upgrades in areas that will benefit tourism as well as the wider economy;
• $111 million more to assist regions with community infrastructure to support major events, festivals and community leisure activities;
• $12 million over two years for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park; and

When your riding buddy goes ass over ...
After a bad fall over the weekend at Red Hill, it makes me wonder how people react and it seems most mates would just stand around and watch...
I suppose there's nothing much you can do but personally I drop my rig and rush to their aid, when I see others just hang back and watch.

Massive Northern Beaches ride map
I have seen on this site that there have been a few "massive northern beaches" rides in the past that look like they must be upwards of 50 to 100 kms without much, if any, going over the same ground. Does anyone have a map, GPS read-out or something plotted on Google Maps, from one of these rides? I am keen to get out and have a really long ride but I get bored to blazes going over the same old ground multiple times in one ride.

State XC Champs
Just got word from the Spoon that the SHCC will be hosting the State XC champs on the 31st of October.
I've added it to the calendar here http://nobmob.com/node/16495 and will update the details as they come to hand

Social Sunday @ Ourimbah
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Social and fun is the theme, however this is not for beginners. I hope to do 3 laps, depending on the timing because i need to back in Sydney by lunch time.
For anyone who has not ridden there, its a great loop through the state forrest that is usually around 12kms or so depending on the condition. Majority is single track, it has some hills of course but not too nasty and some excellent decents. Its not very techical and there are some chicken runs around the harder stuff.
We can stop at the cars after each lap to get some food or drink for the next lap.
