Time to get back on the bike

Hmmmm just got back into Sydney after two weeks of booze, eating, partying and little sleep in Macau and Hong Kong.

Bike has still not been washed from the Dirtworks and had to go out a belt notch.

Time to get back on the bike Laughing out loud

Update 11/06/09: Rode into work today. Boy am I unfit now. Ride time was about 10min more but more importantly I felt buggered! If only it wasn't so cold. My toes, ears and fingers are still defrosting Laughing out loud

Red Hill - Super happy fun day v2.0b

When:
Saturday, 30 May, 2009 - 08:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Red Hill
Meeting Point:

Red Hill Reserve car park, off Lady Penryhn Drive, Beacon Hill. Another option is to ride over here from Oxford Falls.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

I'm planning to ride a big loop that covers pretty much everything up there. Starting from the usual meeting point, head over to the down hill track, back up the 4wd track to the top, rim ride, drop zone and whatever else we find whilst there.

This will be a fairly easy paced ride, but probably not suitable for those not comfortable with the rough stuff. Leave the lycra at home and bring the big bike.

Borrowing or renting a Bike Box/Hard case for NZ trip

I'm looking to borrow or rent a Bike Box/Hard case for the upcoming NZ/Rotorua trip.

Any recommendations? Should be able to hold & protect a large size 6 inch MTB (Spesh Enduro) with triple clamp fork.

Something like this would be ideal:

Thankyou for any tips. Alternatively I will have to consider renting a decent bike locally in Rotorua.

Cheers, Hans

lightweight body armour

Hi,

I do a lot of trail riding and am thinking about investing in an upper body armor suit. I want to know what you recommend for a really light weight armor that can be worn for like 4 hour rides or so??? I have been looking at 661 and Dainese but can't find out too much info on good stockists or what people have got in the light weight department. I want to stay clear of the bulky DH style armor. Can you please make suggestions or point me to a store or so that can help.

Cheers everyone

Autstralian Mountain Bike magazine

...free to good home.
I got a second copy and am happy to forward it on, complete in the original packaging.
First to PM with postage details gets it. I'll drop in in the post later today.

- Interesting article talking of demise of Sparrow Hill and Majura... Why I say?? Go develop some where else nearby!
- Also, a nice and encouraging snippet on the Glenrock story where the MTB community and NPWS cooperated for a managed MTB area.

Get it while its hot...

AMBC/NoBMoB Skills Day

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
When:
Saturday, 20 June, 2009 - 09:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest
Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

So... let's try this again!

AMBC NoBMoB only skills day at Ourimbah.

Given the last date filled fast, but then had to be pulled due to conflicts at the course (Ourimbah) this has been moved to the following weekend.

The trainer line up will be:

Adrian Whittaker (xc)
Brad Mertens (xc)
Daniel Chermak (xc)
Susan Beck (chix)
Kim Stokeld (chix)
Andy Couper (dh)

With the above Kim says, "can do up to 30 for the xc, 20 for the chix & 8 for the dh"

See the thread linked above for details of cost.
