Aussie Champs? (Oi, Oi, Oi!)
Hey,
Does anyone have a brief list of Aussie champs (and podiums and other notable achievements) in world class MTB events?
Or anyone out there bored and feel like compiling one? Just interested in events on the world stage right now (think Sam Hill's achievements).
Cheers!

Is it me, or are helmet cams a waste of money?
Maybe I'm just old and own a Rohloff Speedhub, but I was thinking of buying a helmet cam recently then realised this might not be such a good idea for the following reasons..
There's a lot of Youtube stuff shot by people with helmet cams. Well, how pointless. Either:
the riders are moving quickly which makes the camera jiggle all over the place and it looks like the cam has been gaffa taped to Skippy's ears, or

Woodford to Glenbrook Classic
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Rego @ Woodford Firestation
The Classic is on again! This year's NRMA CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic will again attract in excess of 1000 entrants to run or ride the Oaks Fire Trail through the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park from the town of Woodford down to the Euroka Clearing near Glenbrook.
Covering 25km of undulating bushland, the trail is incredibly scenic and a must for keen mountain bikers and trail runners. Participants are supported the full length of the track by Rural Fire Service crews stationed along the way.

CORC Round 2 Majura Pines
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Majura Pine Forest, off Majura Road.
If you have always wanted to race Majura Pines and not have to do it for 24 hours solo, now is the time ! Round two of the Corc racing season and it is lots of fun , race hard but finish with a smile on your face . I usually find a nice cafe afterwards to contemplate the drive home ,and laugh at my abysmal performance in the race ..... ok not really but its heaps of fun all the same Give it a go .... you know you want to !! and the cold May Canberra weather will toughen you up !!!! You may even have to dodge the odd roo during the race as well

Roadies: check your lights!
Almost hit a couple of brothers (cyclists) while driving home at dusk yesterday. One wasn't wearing a light and the other had some bees dick useless light. Sure, i'm glad there wasn't an incident, but i see riders with no lights or a lot with really tiny lights all the time and it's frustrating. It's unfair to drivers. It would be hard to blame a driver that hit a rider in such circumstances. Please, if you ride on road at night, look at your lights from a decent distance some time and see if they are actually effective (big and bright).
Longer but flatter
This is the 'easier' way out of Penrose at the end of some of the Highland Fling races. Longer but not as steep or as technical as the main drag up Old Argyle Road.
Easy Penrose Loop
Nice loop just under 30Km taking in the best bits of the forest... and sadly a few not very exciting parts to be sure to sprint those
I don't recommend driving down Old Argyle Road to the start as it's a very rough firetrail. At least it was last time we were there.
Instead park up by Ferndale Road, a kilometre or so North East of the start marked here.
This looks like a lot of firetrail, but it's really quite nice stuff, eg:
Old Argyle Road (Rough)
You could drive down here to start nearer to The Bike Wash but it's marginal driving in a soft roader and no hope in a 2WD.
