Hi everyone, I just joined and hope to ride with you guys soon

I've a pass for a couple of Dam laps and maybe a jaunt over to Bantry Bay on Sunday, feel free to join me though I can't hang around and smell the roses too much as I have to be done by 9.

Welcome to the "Easy Does It" Terrey Hills 2008 cruise!!
Come along for a post celebration celebration!! This ride is set late to ensure any sore heads can still handle a late morning ride.
Anyone is welcome to come along, as this will be fairly crusiy along the Permimeter Trail and Long Trail. About 22km in total.
Meet at Terrey Hills shops, either on the street or in the carpark next to the Rural Fire Service.
Hopefully I will see you there.

New Years Day Ride?
George suggested a New Years Day ride - I don't know if anyone will be up to it BUT... I was in Terrey Hills earlier today and the bread/coffee shop is open on new years day so I wondered if anyone would like to do perimeter/long trail as a super social ride?
Thing is, i am not on line again from now as I am not at work again so if someone DOES say yes can someone please text me with a time etc?
And no! DO NOT MAKE IT EARLY PLEASE!!!
Happy New Year!

Best track to improve my fitness
Is the answer to this any track will do? I'm doing a circuit of Manly Dam twice a week and in the new year I intend to add a third or maybe somewhere else at the weekend, I too will beat that hill.
I was thinking of doing some K's on the road to improve my fitness but I'm not sure how much this would help for off road? Add to that the fact that I would need to buy some slicker wheels or maybe a whole new bike and the idea has less appeal and I'm certianly not buying into all thay lycra.
Any advice on good tracks for this?
Cheers

Mooney Mooney - Sat 29th
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Calling all remaining MTB riders! (well, anyone left that is not at Thredbo) Anyone fancy a ride around Mooney Mooney this Saturday? It is an out and back. I am open to suggestions as to where we go while there, as I have not done all of the trails out there yet. But it is an awesome trail!
Park at the gate to the entrance of the fire road. You gain access to the parking area heading north on the old Pacific Highway. That turn off sits, geographically, right underneath the Mooney Mooney bridge.
Hopefully I will see you there! Bring your aeroguard!!

Muddy Xmas Cup
As promised the Merry Cross-mass cup was muddy, but fun. To be honest I found the short track race format a little odd, but eventually cottoned on to the nature of the beast. Like anything it takes a bit of getting used to so sure next time will see better times and a more comfortable ride.
Well, not that the format had anything to do with the comfort factor this time I guess. Mud, mud, sand, rain and mud were probably deciding factors in that.
Did a couple of reccy laps on both bikes and found the short track wet and slippery as expected. The one pinch climb didn't seem so bad, how hard could this be?

NZO 24 Hour Festival - CANCELLED!
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Dargle, Lower Portland. More details to come - see the event website I guess.
Of course you all know this was cancelled... of course you do!
Wow - a 24 hour event close to home. How can you resist?

Bluey's Beach
Just wondering if anyone out there in the ether knows whether there are any cross country mountain bike trails near Bluey's Beach. Heading up there on the weekend.

Getting Back On The Bike After An Injury
I got back on my mountain bike for the first time yesterday after breaking my finger a couple of months ago.
Basically my confidence is all gone I rode Manly Dam and strugled everything looked ten times bigger. I even had a silly little crash in the mud and put the exact same hand out again but didnt break anything this time. I guess the body can heal but the mind needs to be retrained.
I think I will go for an easy ride up the Oaks before going back to the dam.
Any sugestions.
