Blue Mountains Early Sunday morning ride: Oaks up and back

Anyone tried the SLX, XT or XTR shadow plus rear derailleurs ?
Just wondering if anyone have used the shadow plus rear derailleurs on their bike ?And what's the feedback if you have it ?
Supposedly it will give you silent rides, but heavier than the standard derailleurs and requires more maintenance.

Is Anyone Up for a Redhill Ride this Saturday?
Hi! I'm new to Sydney and have been exploring the trails on the weekends. You've got some nice stuff here 
I went to Manly Dam the other week which was really fun. Last Sunday I went to Redhill; it was really fun, but I got pretty lost because – unlike Manly Dam – there's many different trail options to take. So yeah I think I will get a lot more out of it if I head around there with someone else! Plus it's always funner riding with someone else.
Manly Dam update for 09 Oct
Did 3 laps at lunch today.
Track is generally green. Bone dry in parts and puddles in other parts. Singletrack puddles were mainly after the golf course flat rock and in the run down to the 19th hole. The semi-permanent rockpool puddles have reappeared on the main fire trail and the creek was in full flow.
The recent track work has done an excellent job of keeping that section almost totally dry but muddly puddles were forming before and after the raised section. A small extension may fix that.

2013 Mountains to Beach
Who is going to take part in the 2013 Mountains to Beach? Entries are open as of today. Am seriously considering this. Has anyone done it in the past? Just over $2000 for entry and accommodation/meals.

Manly Dam update for 08 Oct
Green this morning, a few puddles were drying up. Started drizzling towards the end, but I don't see that changing the status of the trail.
The rock armour at the Allambie section seems to be working well, not a hint of puddle there
OTB'd at the single track techy section but that was my stupid fault, escaped with a few bruises

Replacing Fork on 2010 Trance X2
The front fork on my Giant Trance X2 has some self induced issues and I'm looking to replace it.

Has anyone replaced the form on a 2010 Trance X2 before? What should I consider when replacing the fork on my bike?
I know it needs to be 15QR?
What about 1.5" steerer vs 1 1/8" taper steerer?
Also what tools will I need to do the job?
