Sydney Demo/Rental Bikes

Hi,

I'm home for a visit from the UK for 4 weeks in January and would love to get some riding in but can't transport my Yeti over due to copious amounts of baby paraphenalia. Does anyone know if any of the decent bike shops in Sydney's south or north offer rentals or demos? Ideally I'd be looking to ride in the RNP, Menai (I'll be at the folks' in Cronulla) or northern beaches so shops in those areas would be best.

Thanks in advance.

Road Ride - Post Jetlag Blow Out - AK and WH

When:
Sunday, 9 January, 2011 - 11:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest
Meeting Point:

Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

This wont be a fast ride, I fly in from the UK in the morning and am hoping to get out on the bike a little bit in the afternoon to try and blow out some of the jetlag cobwebs.

If I am to knackered I wont get out, but hopefully I should be ok, 2 laps is gonna be the maximum and more than likely just one lap!

Cancelled: I am a bit knackered so going to relax.

An addition to your first aid kit - Steri-Strips

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I recently had foot surgery for an old sporting injury, they chopped out some cartilage and re-attached my tendon. The surgeon finally gave me a packet of the 'stitches' being used to hold the reasonably large wound together (so I could patch myself up at home). The 'stitches' are a product by 3M called Steri-Strips (http://tinyurl.com/3msteristrips).

I'm not sure if you can purchase these in a chemist - I'd highly recommend a packet for any injury beyond a graze on the trail. Apparently these are not waterproof and I think a competitor may make waterproof ones.

Ourimbah State Forest update for 30 Dec

Status:
Green/Open

Trails are in great nick - dry and fast, to the point of dusty and slippery on the loose surfaces. Most folks parking at the right spot altho I watched one guy unload his bike parked right in front of a no parking sign - d'oh!

Stromlo Forest Park update for 30 Dec

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Most tracks are ok - the main ascent to the top of the mountain is fine, as is the "Skyline" descent, but many other others are closed off and yet others are badly eroded. I'm guessing they're closed to fix these ditches.
