Terrey Hills update for 19 Sep

Status:
Green/Open

Quite a few puddles remaining from the rain early in the week along the start of Perimeter. Ok to ride if you don't mind your drive train sounding really sick from all the sand that will get splashed up into it! Long Trail was in good condition.

Awaba State Forest update for 19 Sep

Status:
Green/Open

Fantastic. All dry. The brand new part of the red loop still needs riding in, but is great fun! (That's right... there's a new addition to the red loop!) Overall distance has been raised from around 10.1km to 10.6km.

Lane Cove National Park update for 19 Sep

Status:
Green/Open

The main trails have drained pretty well, just a few soggy patches here and there. The rocky trail that follows the Lane Cove River upstream from the intersection with Devlin's Creek (ie from the bottom of Pennant Hills fire trail) is very wet in places and has loads of deep sand traps. A couple of sections of trail were washed away by the storm last week. It's still rideable, but the combination of mud, water and sand will cause your drive train to make horrible noises.

3 x 9 or stuff it all off?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

When i bought my bike the guy before me converted it to a 2 x 9. So i was just wondering how i convert it back to a 3 x 9. He got rid of the small shimano slx chainring from the front cassette. Or is it worth just going to a single chain ring and loose all the excess weight, find an inbetween amount of teeth between the granny and middle (never use the top) I almost died riding today, did 40km without being on a saddle for 2 months i rode from st ives to the bottom of akuna bay and back up, my average pulse was 160-170!!!
