Meryla Pass - the finish. Back at altitude.

This is basically the end of the ride, no more climbing from here.

Meryla Pass - flat bit mid climb

A merciful flat bit about halfway up Meryla pass. You can make out the ridge line in the top left of the photo, probably another 200 vertical metres to go.

Meryla Pass - creek crossing

This is the lowest point of the ride, about 80m altitude. From here, a brutal climb is required. It's 650 metres vertical, about the same as thredbo village to summit.

McPhails - Valley Floor, end of trail,

It spits you out next to this meadow, but not before channeling you down a dead straight 40% gradient finale. It's like the end of a Downhill Ski Race.

McPhails - switchback section

It's hard to capture how steep it is with a camera, but this should give an idea.

McPhails - second sign

This ancient looking sign is a bit further along the upper singletrack section.

McPhails - first sign

Note it's called a "fire trail" but since it was decommissioned, it has now mostly reverted to beautiful singletrack.

McPhails - start of access road

Jump the gate and ride in on the dirt road for a couple of K's. Keep an eye out for the McPhails sign on the right - easy to miss.

Gun Club DH

The gun Club trail has been used by the CTMBC to host Club, state, national and international Down Hill events.

An old fashion DH trail it lacks the scarier drops and gaps that seem to fill modern DH trails yet still offers plenty of challenges for the guys trying to go fast.

It should be noted that the trail passes along side the Thales firing range and should not be ridden while shooting is taking place.
