What a Tyre
What a remarkable tyre, recently I got a pair of Continental Explorer and was impressed by the weight or lack of it tipping in at just a tad under 500g, traction on the climbs and comfort of these tyre are great, while not the greatest on hard wet clay they suit other condition and my riding style.

Royal National Park Out And Back
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Usually Loftus Oval, Sutherland, just off the Princes Highway.
Going to ride the popular out and back trail, with a small loop thrown in, from Loftus Oval to Heathcote.
There’s plenty of fast flowing single track, a bit of fire trail and a couple of challenging hills thrown in. Pace will be medium (well for me medium, someone else may think it’s slow) and there will be limited stops.
Terrain isn’t too tricky, but good lights will be needed.
Be good to see you there.

donating your old bikes
we are needing to make some room in our garage so it's time to get rid of some of the old bikes (don't worry the good ones live inside the house). So i've been looking for some groups/charities to donate the bikes to, so far i have found the following website that lists a few organisations and i'll contact a few of them tomorrow ( i already emailed one of them a little while back but have had no response)
http://www.bicyclerecycling.com/15.html
has anyone else donated their old bikes to a charity etc? if so which ones?

Do as I say, not as I do.....
Thought I'd post this up for any neewbs or those starting their own maintenance. A few weeks ago I decided to strip the bike down and give it full service, remove linkages, check bearings, clean bottom bracket, grease pedal ports, etc etc.
Anyway, has some problems getting my pedals off my XTR cranks, so in my infinite wisdom combined with a tremendous lack of foresight, I place the shaft in a vice (wrapped in a towel) to get some more leverage. For some reason it was the only part I could place in the vice to get to the pedal axle (was the drive side arm I was dealing with)
