Beijing Closing Ceremony - One Wheeled Sit In Bikes?

Anyone see them? How'd they work? They'd be great for mountain biking, roll up and over anything - I think, have I got the physics right?

To compliment the social ride here's the more serious one.

You know the drill, we will start from the Tavern and ride Duck Hole + Centre + Perimeter + Long and back to Tavern.

This is a training ride and you should expect to only unclip once the whole ride - at the North end of Centre Track.

We may or may not slow down if/when the social group is met - either way, at least we can get social with them afterwards at the Tavern. Smiling

Andos (de)grading!!!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I’d finally got some courage and since I needed some more training before the Angry Doctor I did the Oaks + Andos (all the way up) this Saturday and to my surprise Andos is being graded pretty much like Oaks was.
I don’t know if it’s because of the soil difference or if the work is much worse this time, but the first 10 Ks (near Woodford) are terrible to ride as the surface is extremely soft and loose and even going downhill towards the creeks crossing was tough (It was so soft that I had to actually pedal downhill in order to get some speed).

Sore knee ligament...

Yesterday after 66kms of mostly uphill riding my left knee lateral ligament (I think) was showing lots of pain and I had to catch the train instead of going back down the Oaks Sad
It's the first time I've experienced knee pain - is this particular one a common knee injury for riders? How should it be treated? Ice or heat?
Would it be wise to cary with you some bandage in case it happens again on a 100Km ride?

Thanks,
Tom

Pedals/shoes

Hey
I'm looking at buying a pair of cliplees pedals/shoes, i ride primarily xc stuff, but i can get pretty aggressive, however i'm not a big fan of drops (can't afford to break my arm before the HSC)
My Main reason for wanting to clip in is i'm sick of my foot slipping off the bar and banging my knee on the handlebars, and not being able to climb up hills.

What should i expect to pay for a set up thats going to handle being beaten on a regular basis?

shock advice needed urgently

hi all. i just got home from buying a brand new giant reign 1. i was pretty pumped considering it's my first dual susp. and the nicest bike i've owned thuis far. however the party was dampened a bit when i noticed a scratch/small gouge on my rear shock (photo attached...the scratch is the white mark and also a little more below that where the sticker is roughed up). i hadn't even ridden the bike yet! i am not sure if i should bother going through all the hassle of returning the bike/ taking it back for replacement.

Found: Aviator-style sunglasses @ TH

Found: Aviator-style sunglasses (you know - Top Gun / Maverick style)

Near the Japanese school car park (Euchanga Rd). Found today (Sunday) by Tom when we returned from the TH trails.

Contact me via PM if you can describe them...or see me wearing them at the next dress-up party. Smiling

We are not alone

This is interesting:

http://www.singletracks.com/blog/?p=1079

Seems the Singletracks site (a mainly US based site - but that also has trail info in some places here) has received several 'take down' requests lately. Ie. authorities contacting them asking them to remove trail info from their site. They write:

In case you’re curious our policy has always been to update trail descriptions rather than remove them from the website entirely. This is so everyone knows the deal, including mountain bikers who had previously ridden trails that are now closed.
