Ourimbah State Forest update for 12 Feb

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Red/Closed

A decision to cancel racing Sunday has been made. The track is too wet and vulnerable to excessive erosion. If you ride the track please do so with a minimum impact approach.

The Drop-Off is rideable however the "Chicken Run' B line on the left is no longer in use. The bridge has been washed away and won't be replaced. It is anticipated that a bank collapse into the creek is imminent. The OLD B-Line on the right before you get to the Drop-Off has been re-groomed and should be used instead. Graveyard is closed. Long Meadows is closed. Missing link and Short Meadows very slippery. Anticipate getting off to push through sections. Recommended ride is to do first two thirds of the loop and exit at the end of the rollercoaster onto the fire road near the bottom of the DH track. From here ride all the way to the old carpark and re-enter at the base of Heartbreak Hill. If you ride Ewok forest (which is relatively dry) you will exit onto the old fire road and find youself trapped in by water and mud as deep as your bottom bracket. No other exits are possible. Book in a service at your bike shop if you take it on.

MTB shoes

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

First time poster!

I have just upgraded bikes, so now I feel I should stop running the old joggers as well. What is everyone's opinions on some decent shoes for mtb? Are the old etnies/dc's skate/bmx type sufficient or are there special shoes that I should look at?

Cheers

Awaba State Forest update for 31 Jan

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

went out this morning. only a couple of puddles in areas but can be avoided without damage to the surrounding bush. just on the edge of being perfect traction. the drive in is the tricky part with all the water damaging the road a bit more.
