Winmalee update for 12 Jul

The tree across the DH section from Shaw's ridge is now removed. There are plenty of debris everywhere of course, since the wind keeps up. Some massive gums came down in the past few weeks since I haven't been out this way and the tree which fell across the ferns (b/w the grotto and the climb to the school) is still there - but that's been there for ages now I think.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

What a Cold morning, I think my ears froze as soon as I stepped out of the car at Woodford.

My only goal was to break the hour mark, last year my time was 1:00:11 so I knew I could do it.
I started at the very back of the 30-39 (Wave D). As soon as I crossed the starting line I started moving up the pack and continued to do so along the firetrail. I rode every climb at a slow and steady pace to not burn myself out and used that reserve of energy to pick my pace up at the top of each climb.

Only ~2 minutes better than last year. I guess I really need to work on my DH skills.
Slow and steady improvement Eye-wink
54% overall / 66% by age / 60% by gender

Added the finishing certificate.
It shows a few seconds less then my cylemeter or the official timer counted. Oh well. Maybe the more in the past the faster I get. Must be.

take care after all this wind

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

just a quick reminder to take a bit of care when riding the trails after all this wind, I rode some of the lawson single trail tonight and came across some large branches on the upper parts which I moved off the trail and on the lower part it looked like someone came off in a big way with helmet parts all over the place and a fresh branch off to the side. http://www.strava.com/activities/158326742 I can report all the trails I rode in this activity is clear.

cheers steve
