Help getting started
Wanting to get a bike to start training for the Gloucester Mountain Man this year.
I am a competitive paddler (k1 and ski), and a runner. I've mountain-biked socially for years but never raced. My current bike is 19yrs old with 23" wheels and no suspension. (it was good in its day 
)
I am wanting to spend as little as needed to get a bike that will be good enough to train and compete at Gloucester. My running and paddling is up there, so if I can hold my own on a bike I'll do well.
Glenrock State Conservation Area update for 03 Mar
I'll give it a green, but with not much rain it will go quickly towards the red. Really just a few puddles around the place.
Kenny's - Generally good, few puddles and slippery at the bottom of the chute.
High Roller - On big damp area otherwise good.
Seuss Land - Fine
Shaft - Top half is fine, few puddles on the back half.
Double Barrel - Fine
Didn't ride any of the other trails, but I imagine they would be similar.

Yep still red. Went in this morning and it was pretty damp , quite a few puddles, and now we've had a heavy shower, so will be quite red today

Only rode the fire trails this arvo and they were bad enough, so I think its a fair call to say the single track is RED.
Other bikes I saw emerging from the tracks were just totally covered in mud.

A few mud puddles around Kenny's and bj's, could lead to some big ruts.
Seismic very overgrown with weeds and other crap.

Awaba State Forest update for 13 Feb
Dry for the most part. A few soft/Wet patches around but nothing of concern.
The Saladbowl has been bypassed around the large fallen tree to avoid the lake.

Awaba State Forest update for 07 Feb
good conditions, a few soft spots, the salad bowl needs attention, still wet with no sign of the water dissipating. Blood was spilt there today
